Default Should I trade my Raptor 660r for a Honda 400ex?

I have an 02 Yamaha Raptor 660r that needs carb work, needs a new clutch, etc.
It has dg nerf bars, pro taper handlle bars, tether kill switch and new holeshot tires. It also has reverse.

Should i trade it for a 2001 honda 400ex, red, bored out motor, dg nerfs, no reverse??

I have a little honda 250ex that i love and i always wanted a 400ex or 450r.
I only bought this raptor off my brother and he was suppose to buy it back...but hes not.

My friend has that same honda. Beat to shit. Lol. But its a nice machine, very fun, still runs great for what we do to it.
But not having reverse may be a pain in the ass.

I can deal with no reverse...only time its ever used is backing into my garage..lol..and now and then on the trails..but i dont think its that big of a deal...dirtbikes dont have reverse...lol.
And when im on the track i never use reverse.

You dont need reverse on dirtbikes. but lets not go there haha!

I would make the trade if your bike has clutch problems and all that.

depends on the bore kit. if its a 440, then I would not trade.

Whats wrong with the 440 bore??

And yeah im sure the raptor needs a new clutch..but its one thing after another to fix on this raptor...and very little time riding it!!
And hondas take a beating and keep on going...

440's have cooling issues and pop headgaskets often.

Generally speaking, the forums dont recommend anything over the 416cc bore

Those 400Ex's are turds. Then again so is a Raptor compared to my old quad, man I miss her! Keep the Raptor

Those Hondas don't die that's for sure. I never rode a 400ex. I had a 300ex and I didn't like it. It was to short I didn't like the feel. Although I loved the clutch it was like butter! I traded my 300ex for my explorer for my 5.0 swap. I'm gonna get dogged on for what I ride but I love it.

My bike is a 1996 Yamaha warrior 350. 6speed with reverse. Dg slip on pipe, Vito +5 timing key, kenda claw rear tires, itp holeshot front tires, 2 inch wheel spacers on front, durable rear axle with flipped rear rims for wide stance, mikuni jetted carb, air box mod, shaved front fenders, 14-39 gearing +1 on front sprocket, tusk clutch, skid plate and front grab bar.


It's a boat. But I love the way it feels and rides. It's a good bike. I painted the pipe. It was a rusty brown. I'm gonna pull the headlights and replace them with led 4 inch squares. Also gotta pull the head and replace the valve seals and I'm gonna rebuild and bore it .20 over. When I have it all apart I'm gonna port and polish the head also. I'm gonna go riding tomorrow and after tomorrow it's time for an oil change. Personally I'm a fan of Yamaha and Suzuki. I also have a 04 rancher 350 4x4 that I bought from a family friend mainly because I know the history on it and know it's been taken care of. It's on itp 589s with 2 inch lift and rear seat. It's gonna be getting an hmf and snorkel soon. If you are a fan of Hondas I say go for it. Those Honda 400s hall!

I was actually wrong... apparently with the larger bore kits, the piston skirts can come in contact with the crank counter weight.. at least this is what I was told last week.
