Steering box compatibility?
Hey guys,
Im doing an sas with matching 2003 f250 axles (dana 60 front, sterling 10.25 rear). theres a steering box on cl from a 2000 f250 but its quite a drive away and he wants 200. Theres a friend of a friend in town who has a 96 ford f150 steering box and he only wants 100. Are either of these bolt-on compatible with the steering linkage from my f250 axles? If not, what steering box should i use? I just dont know what will bolt right up to the stock steering linkage that i already have.
Thanks for any help, im really stumped on this one.
PS- i realize this will be super wide on my ranger.
Chris.

Re: Steering box compatibility?
Ill obviously need a drop pitman arm, so that arm will have to be ordered for whichever steering box i use, and the other end of the arm is just open to have a bolt put through it to bolt on the steering linkage. Is this correct? because in theory, i could use pretty much any truck steering box the end of the arm is open to allow the steering linkage to be bolted up...
any help will be much appreciated!

Re: Steering box compatibility?
That 96 f150 box is more or less the same as the ranger box used with their TTB fronts. You probably will need to notch the frame a smidge for full left. Pics of this are in my thread. If I was you I would go over the knuckle bore out the axle side and use a sleeve and bore the Pittman arm out for Chevy 1 ton tre's all of the parts for this are on curries site.

Could you possibly elaborate a little more on this?

Re: Steering box compatibility?
This is for a Dana 30 however the basic idea is the same and this gives you part numbers for the one ton tre's.
http://www.jcroffroad.com/mm5/mercha...Code=1TNST-OTK
Basic idea is to take the tie rod and flip it so instead of mounting under the knuckle like it does stock you move it over the knuckle and higher up. It puts it more out of the way of rocks and keeps the draglink slope lesser which is better for everything. The gm 1 ton tre's are just bigger than ford and dodges.

Re: Steering box compatibility?
I understand now, thanks.

This setup will work on my axle? I'm not sure what to select as far as model on the site.
