What is it out of? Really only two different chassis' that axle could be out of.
Early Bronco (Close to ranger width) or
76-79 F100/F150/Fullsize Bronco (Fullwidth)
Do you know how wide it is? The width will really determine your next question

If it is a fullwidth D44 from a F100/150/bronco then, yes you will have to swap the rear axle as that front axle will be alot wider then the 8.8 you currently have.
If it is a Early Bronco D44 then you can run that rear axle but you will have mismatched lug patterns. There are ways to get around this but I would recommend an explorer 8.8 with aftermarket shafts to convert to 5x5.5 to match the front.

There are alot of popular steering boxes used on rangers for SAS's.
Toyota IFS, FJ60, 97 and down Ranger steering box, Scout 2, ect. It all depends on what you have available and what your axle placement calls for. Most people make a hybrid steering shaft out of the stock shaft and the lower half of the steering box donor vehicles shaft.
As far as suspension is concerned. To run radius arms, you would need all the mounts for the arms as well as all the panhard bar mounts, custom brake lines, ect.

I'm very mechanical but the whole SAS is very new to me
thanks!

You can run your stock Transfer case but will more then likely need a different front driveshaft to mate up to the front axle due to joint and or length differences.

What tire size are you planning on running?
