the SL costs upwards of 1100bucks...

for that price you have your axle and the main essencials.

but thats my opinion.

itll drive as good as you build it. but ive had my truck up to 100mph...basiccally what my motor topped out at (no governor)...and it rode fine. felt plenty stable!

Awesome. That basically answers my question. My main concern was the stability of the SAS vs 4" IFS, and price. Only one more thing. I have no hook up with fabricating tools. Never really needed them so i would bring it to a shop to do this supplying the parts. Do you have any idea what it would cost in labor?

Ford 9". Overkill should be matched with overkill.

the 31 spline 8.8 is beast alot cheaper than building up a ford 9. go to the junk yard find a expo with a 31 spline 8.8 they will even have disc brakes and 4.10 gears u cant go wrong there its already built up if need be add a locker. and as for the front if u are into hardcore offroading dana 44 if u want a lighter axle than the dana 30

Depending on the 44 and the 30 the 30 in stock form is stronger than a lot of the older 44s with 19 spline outers and such.
