That steel explorer shaft but going to retube it with .188" wall DOM. From the guys I have talked to that will hold the weight of the truck.

Other than crushing the aluminum shaft the truck did pretty good. Sometime the length let it walk over stuff the Jeeps were struggling with and sometimes it was the opposite.

Time to upgrade to an atlas.

Yeah sometimes the extra length helps but then hurts.

meh not really worth it yet. It is geared low enough for the 38.5's to get around pretty well.

It will be a lot stronger. I might go pick up up a piece of dom and do it myself to get it trail good again and start looking at a street shaft and offroad shaft. I have heard tire balancing beads inside the shaft will balance it enough to be streetable.

As for a with bumper in the front...this one is getter a 12k badlands winch this winter. It has enough room just have to add a winch plate.

Don't judge lol, but the dreaded d30 from a Cherokee, I don't have rocks to crawl near me my ranger is pretty much the get to hard places to fish and hunt truck, so the 30 shouldn't be a problem. Plus they were practically free so I couldn't pass it up.

----------

Also do you happen to have any pics of your front upper coil mount/perch or what you did to keep them stationary up top.

Won't happen. It might get a v8, but it will never have a heavy, noisy, smokey diesel. I want to swap a 3 valve 5.4L in but it will take a lot of work to keep heat and a/c.

Nothing really wrong with a D30 I still have on in my XJ. Just make sure it is the big joint one with 297x joints. The 260x joint ones are garbage and will break a lot even not on rocks. Even with 297x joints those with stock shafts are the weak point so it's not any weaker than a D44 to me.

As for the coil buckets not much to them they are based off of a Cherokee. Coil bucket has a round peg that a pair of ACOS's are mounted to. There is no upper coil retention minus the peg on the ACOS. lower mounts on the axle have a retainer.

Ok that's what I thought but wanted to double check, I'm not sure which joints it has but I do plan on beefing it up so I have less to worry bout. Also how do you like the coils versus leafs.

I like the flex and ride quality of coils. Not to mention with tires like mine leafs wear out quick.

I seen one on YouTube with a DOHC 5.4L on 42's. And when you gonna start that swap?
