What's this I hear about R/F filing a legal claim against FRF?!

Get this... R/F has committed perjury by filing a legal claim against FRF ( http://www.FordRangerForum.com ) saying they *legally* own the content written by their members who choose to repost that content on other websites. You heard that right... I'm currently responding to an official legal notice about all this. I think its as unethical as it is ballsy to attempt to monopolize on the creativity and work of your members. FRF will never sink this low.

This was a post on myspace.

the same this is true about other sites like myspace and other social networks. if it says it in there terms of use that you have to agree to when you sign up to use the site. thats why you should always read those long boring things.

but yeah thats f-ed up.

Nah it won't because the members are not employees or anything. Its no different than when say I take and post a thread on here posting pics of the truck and then turn around and copy and paste it onto another forum.

Personally i have been a member on rf for a long time and yes its true when you sign up in the terms and agreements it says something along those lines. People need to read the fine print. I say just take down the how to's and write your own.

Usually sites post something along the lines of "We own the right to reproduce or modify your work in anyway." Owning the right to reproduce or modify a work is a lot different than owning the work.
