My mother in law is just like rick......she will poke and push for a reaction and once she gets what she wants she turns it on you. I have learned to just let it go in one ear and out the other and it killed her.....now she does not bother me anymore since she knows it wont work.

im no expert or anything but dont you need to have the copyright trade mark on something in order to file a copyright complaint? Because if you dont copyright it in the first place then you cant claim as yours if somebody else uses it right?

Negative. A copyright and a trademark are two different things.

Nothing is really required in order to file a copyright complaint beyond any of your normal legal complaints. This is where people make references to frivolous legal claims, it's just so easy to file a legal claim. Essentially, Rick just has to sign papers stating under penalty of perjury we are violating his copyright, and since perjury is a criminal offense the system presumes he is honest and proceeds forward. It's possibly he feels comfortable committing perjury since he isn't a U.S. citizen, and doesn't live in the U.S. Regardless, winning the claim is where having a legitimate case is important.
