How about a "test" thread....
Just like the title says, how about a test thread? This would be a thread stricktly for new members/new to forums folks to test things out. I for one was a newb to forums when I came here and had no clue on how to post, where to post, how to start a thread, etc.. Perhaps this could be a nice place for that...???

Do I have to do this test or have I passed already?

I think the "Read before posting" thread works. Most people over look it, they would probably over look the test thread as well

Re: How about a "test" thread....
I agree with Clinton,us old men figured it out.Make a intro, tell a joke its really not that hard.People just need to read a little instead of jumping in just to get questions answered,I know we all want answers but this is a forum not a Ford technical site.

Re: How about a "test" thread....
how are you supposed to test start a thread in the test thread? and one thing i've found out from other forums and this one is that NO ONE looks at the stickies. it could say "Free Blow Jobs from Angelina Jolie" and would still get like 3 views.

That is correct the wheels and tires section is a perfect example. They make a thread asking about what tires fit. Had the just looked right by the "New Thread" there is a sticky with the info.
So I seriously doubt people would even bother to "test" to see if pictures show up or what ever else.

I ment "test" as in a way to get a feel for the forum. That is all

How to post, how to start new threads, and where to post are explained in the above thread. Still, threads are extremely frequently posted in the wrong place, and that, I have no answer for. The problem IMHO is a matter of lazyness.
For example, there are a ton of tech questions posted in the general discussion thread even though the description says "Do not post your tech questions in this part of the site." So I'm guessing users just make the choice not to read the descriptions and just post wherever.
It's also by no means a new user only problem. It's common for users with thousands of posts to post threads in the wrong forum as well (usually a music thread in the offtopic section instead of the music section, or something similar).

Re: How about a "test" thread....
In one of the F-Series forums I'm on, the test section is mainly filled with people putting the word test, and then others chiming in with icles. So test sections never really get taken seriously. And that forum is one of the more serious ones.

And that's how it seems most Test sections go.
