Agreed. I have been on a site for S10's for going on 7 years that has ads, while not to annoying, the fact we don't have them here makes it look a lot cleaner, plus quicker to load posts, even the pic heavy ones.

If I go to other ranger sites on my phone it is like having dial up internet. Also it is very cluttered.

Please contribute to the forum to keep it advertisement free.

Yes this is an option. Yes I've considered it (can't say "no" to it without considering it). No I will not be doing it. I do not wish to annoy members with advertisements.

one banner at the top, above the threads wouldn't bother me and i am sure as hell it would help out the server in the long run.
Nope, not quite. The first thing is this. In order for this website to get approved for banner ads, Tom would be in here for 2 days strait deleting alot of threads that contain profanity, and very describing actions. The reason is because people like google adsense doesn't want ANY profanity. I've had a blog with adsense running on it for nearly 2 years now and that was the first thing they told me, NO PROFANITY of any kind. The second thing is this. Google Adwords cost money, they charge per word. This website can't afford to use adwords. Google adsense won't work out in the long term due to the reason listed above and the fact that this website won't get enough hits to really profit from adsense. They told me I'd be lucky to make a profit unless I got at least 75,000 hits a day. This website might get that in one day, but not every day. By the time all of this occurs it will be like other ranger websites where you have to walk on egg shells just to survive, and it will slow down cpu's. There's alot of members in here with old computers that can't even handle youtube, much less a website that has alot of banner ads. Not to mention the fact that the banner ad companies will end up taking over this website completely and forcing Tom out. That happened over on another website that I recently sneaked into without logging in. Alot of members have left, some that really pissed people off became administrators and are generally hateful with people for no reason and to make matters worse the ricers have pretty much taken over that website.

For the folks at home... Google AdSense is an advertising network that makes it easy for website owners like myself to place advertisements on a website and earn revenue.

Not at all. It would take me about 2.5 seconds to have banner ads shown for everyone to see. Google AdSense does indeed allow profanity as addressed by their terms of service. If you don't believe me, read their terms of service.

I must admit I'm kind of amazed someone from google adsense even talked to you, let alone gave you false information. Google has a very strong reputation of not being contactable.

That doesn't really make any sense to be honest. AdWords and AdSense are two completely different things. There is absolutely no correlation between the amount of traffic you need verses a profit margin as using adsense costs absolutely nothing. Obviously once you add other factors in (server costs, etc.) that changes, but there is nothing to stop someone from setting up a free blog, slapping adsense ads on, and making a profit. I'm completely lost as to where costs & profit comes into play regarding google adsense.

This forum receives way more than 75,000 hits a day. Although anyone who deals with websites will tell you that hits is a completely useless number and is often only used as a means to sound important. By this I mean, out of all the traffic statistics available "hits" always has the highest quantitative value (higher numbers sound impressive) and due to the way "hits" are recorded provides no real useful data.

lol wut? That is not technically possible....

Basically, the reason you guys don't see advertisements is because I don't want to clutter our community with advertisements. It has nothing to do with the logistics of it, a lack of understanding advertisements, an inability to setup ads, or anything similar. It would be beyond easy for me to do it, but I choose not to.

thanks for no ads. I understand it cost money to run this thing, not to mention admin/mods TIME. I became a contributor to support this site. I REALLY like having NO ads! NO ADS FTW!

I may be confusing it with my terms of service agreement. They sent me an email to let me know that I was approved along with the terms of service agreement. That other website had other problems as well. Mainly I was using the 2 as an example really. I should've put that in there. Adsense is free. Adwords is not. That much I do know my friend. In fact they sent me a $100 dollars worth of free advertising for Adwords in the mail a few weeks ago. But I get what you're saying though. It depends on your service agreement when you sign up. Maybe that's why no foul language was in my terms of service contract.

----------

I went back and looked and Tom was indeed right. My terms of service included no profanity in my agreement because I signed up with the knowledge of no profanity will be in my blog. That is why I can't have profanity or obscene behavior in my blog because of the options I picked. Google does own both Adwords which can be expensive, but usually isn't. Adsense doesn't cost anything. Sorry Tom I should've wrote my post better which is my fault there. And I don't doubt you get more than 75,000 hits a day either. Plus the other website I mentioned also had a problem with "ownership" and also had financial issues as well. My fault on this one.

X2. The banner ads also really slow up computers too. I'd love to donate to help keep this site add free, but right now I can't.
