I've been using AVG free and malwarebites for the last few years and have not had one virus. I won't ever pay for virus protection again after using the free stuff.

Avast is great and take a look at SandBoxie... it's free and makes browsing bad sites very safe as it runs your browser seperate from your OS. Even if you get a virus pop up and run it and install it no prob as it's inside the box and once you close the browser it dies instead of your system.

I used to have a Norton computer condom but when my computer decided to go corrupt on me I lost it and I cant re-download it. SO now its spend 80 more $$ on it or go without. which sucks.

I've been using avg for years, malwarebytes, spybot, adaware, superantispyware & more. None of them stopped the turd that got through my defenses & screwed this PC.
I'm just now getting things somewhat back to normal after a fresh OS install.
The only thing that actually did any good with the problem I had was Dr Web cure-it. It actually removed the turd from the old hard drive, but I wasn't taking any chances & started over from scratch.
This time I'm copying the entire system so I can re-install from a clean point if anything ever happens again.

At the risk of reopening a very old thread, is anyone still seeing virus or threat detections when going to the FRF site? on several different devices, I get the same warnings any time I go to the FRF site. I've tried several different browsers (Firefox, IE, Edge, Chrome) and OS's from Windows XP through Windows 10. I'm still able to browse and post on the site, but I have had the android browser prevent me from accessing the site. I'm using Avast as my anti-virus software. The message I get is usually a variation of HTML:script-inf. I'll try to attach a screenshot if it lets me.

I use Bitdefender and it says the page is clean, plus I have Malwarebytes no problem there. You might have your virus set to deep, setting off false positives.

I run a pretty tight ship here and I've never, ever seen anything suspicious get flagged on any page here. For that matter, I just don't see people messing with websites and pages too much anymore (other than China and others trying to hack US gov't systems); on the other hand, 10+ years ago the story was much much different.

*Why even bother trying to screw with webpages and hack websites when the real challenge and fun would be in hacking a new car and making some *adjustments*.

I'm on Mac, antivirus is actually counterproductive on it. But browser hijacking does still happen, along with adware and crapware. Malwarebytes is an excellent tool for getting rid of this stuff if you do happen to get something nasty installed
