I have been noticing a lot of people have been getting banned apparently. I was wondering, how do other members find out if you have been banned. What leads to someone getting banned after they have posted a bad comment/pic? anyone know?

You can find out if a member is banned by looking at their profile. A banned member has done multiple things to earn their ban, we don't give them out, people earn them. Some members do not learn from their warnings and it ends up in a ban.

Only way to know if someone is banned is to ask a Mod or Tom
You will notice they wont have a avatar and it will say banned under their user name

A person can be banned for a variety of reasons. Mostly for breaking the rules after being asked to straighten up.

And I guess there is no way to return, what if they try to create another account under diff name? sorry about all the questions

People can return bans are not forever. They last anywhere from 1 day to 1 month

Only under certain circumstances will a permanent ban be issued

What if they continue to merit a ban, I.E. continue their past behaviour, I guess it could happen where a lifetime ban could be enforced?

yes in that case a permanent ban is used.

What is a referral? Do those lead to being banned?

Not really because 99.9% of the members probably don't know how to see if they have any referrals.
