Only reasson I asked about cluster. I though when I saw it you were gonna talk about the instrument gauges.
after opening thread I was then kinda confused
no problems its not a big deal.

Id break it down into generations like 83-88, 89-92, 93-97, and then 98-2011. Then itd best to have some subgroups once you get into these generations for instance ill use mine just for reference.

Lets say I click on my generation "98-11," then theres subgroups such as 01-03, 06-07, etc and id click on "06-07" for my particular truck and that way all the threads, posts, w.e would be specific to my exact model and would work. This would specifically help with things like the mirrors, grills, bumpers, emblems, headlights, tailights, etc etc that change through each of these year subgroups.

Im trying to do my best to explain this through just typing it out but I think it'd be a great addition to the forum and I just really like to setup that way. That way if your trying to find something or posts very specific you dont have to worry about if it will work for your truck or not, etc.

I also think it cleans up alot of things, like when you click "new posts" instead of having 10 pages of tons of different info and you look on the side and it might say exterior. It could be for a 89 ranger, but not anything even remotely close to my 06, where if it said like 06-07 id be like oh I want to read this and try and help out because its just liek mine or something that I have alot of info in.

Sorry for the long rant and post, im just trying to explain this the best I can. Im on alot of forums, particularly because I have 3 vehicles that are all totally different. My lifted ranger, a lowered s10, and a mustang build as well as looking for a 70's f150. So after being on tons and tons, these are just different things ive noticed and taken ideas from all around and trying to compile them into making FRF the best it can be.

It could even be beneficial if most don't want to break it down that far, to atleast include the 4 different generations as options to atleast help control and clean up alot of the posts. But I was just seeing the responses it would get.

We already have a 2001+ Model breakdown. I see no need for another unless it is Pre-2001

Having a yearly breakdown for the Ranger doesn't really work since the Ranger hasn't changed much. So the idea of having an 01-03 forum, 04-05 forum, 06-07 forum, and an 08-10 forum would be silly IMHO since for the most part the trucks are very much alike. The same questions, as well as the same answers, would apply to every forum.

Generational breakdown would be sloppy IMHO. 90% of the members here probably having a 98+ Ranger. So if 90% of the threads are in one single forum it would be extremely difficult to parse that information. For example, if a user has a specific problem with their 4.0 engine, it would be difficult to shift through every single thread not knowing what is relevant and what is not.

Additionally, the generational breakdown isn't cut and dry. Stuff was carried over from one generation to the next. Also, there were numerous changes throughout the 3rd generation (maybe the others too) which makes some 3rd generation info completely different from other 3rd generation info.

yeah I was afraid of that. Like you said its just kind of difficult with the ways our rangers are set up and change throughout the years, but I would like to see atleast something to help clean up and organize the forum. Just looking for different ways to improve the forum.
