Default signatures (yeah, I know it's been discussed before)

It seems now, that people (new members) are making signatures!
except their signatures don't have anything to do with their trucks.
While I was "welcoming" new members I noticed a lot of "signatures" were just some random quote or saying. Nothing about their trucks year, engine, style, etc..

this is not an actual signature, as I don't want to embarrass anyone but one of the signature was like this:

I'm an American & I like to Hunt!

Is there a rule that says your sig needs to mention what you drive?

When you post up a question it makes it really simple for those answering your question if we have some information about your ride. The simplest thing is to create a signature and list the specs of your truck. Year, trim, drivetrain, engine, current mods plus anything else you would like to add. This way we are not asking for more information or blindly answering your questions. To create a signature click on User CP in the upper left and on that page, about the 10th option down on the left is the Edit Signature, go there fill out your info and save. Or click here http://www.fordrangerforum.com/profi...=editsignature

Thanks!

Here's one for Tom. Would it be possible to make the sig a required field when you register?

Well said. IMHO this is where you guys can help self regulate the forum. Understand that some people are new to forums and don't understand what a signature is or why it's there so feel free to directly inform users about signatures.

Unfortunately not.

Unfortunately not.
Maybe include it in F.A.Q. section or something like that, i don't know if that would help. Or perhaps when they register, it sends them an email reminding them to do so.

Unfortunately nobody reads the FAQ. E-Mail would probably be more effective.

I'm so glad that FRF doesn't allow images and banners in the signatures. You can actually surf the forum and read the posts without drowning in images. And the site loads fast.

New users get reminders. However one must be understanding of the fact that many people who are new to forums are overwhelmed by the info (signatures, avatars, stickies, etc.) when they simply want to jump in.

I'm pretty sure members aren't choosing to exclude information about their truck specs because they can't put pictures in their signature...
