It's a good idea, but it's no different than a reputation (Rep) system. On a few other forums, 3/4 of my "rep" is from funny posts/comments I made in the general convo section, as Tom described. Only a handful are reps for good tech posts. With that known, it appears that I rarely give good tech advice, and more or less joke around. But if you look at my post count, 3/4 of my posts are tech, 1/4 being off-topic. But since a new member is unaware of the reputation system, he simply thanks me, instead of adding to my rep. I always wondered why this site didn't have a "rep" system. Now I see why. Thanks for keeping the site simple Tom!

I know I'm bringing this up from the grave, but I like REP systems, and "unique Rep" where you can had a message about why you gave rep. About the rep from jokes and OT stuff, can't you mod out which forums have the rep/thanks buttons?

Just my thoughts! All and all this is a great forum!
Thanks FRF

Probably could mod out which forums have the thanks buttons... but my original points still stand.

Rep systems destroy forums IMHO. Only ones I've seen that seem okay are where user rep is a status instead of a number (eg: great, good, bad). But IMHO, that still causes members to get all fixated on their reps, and reps of others... and creates way too much drama & tension.

I like things simple. We are here to enjoy ourselves while enjoying our vehicle interests. No need to make things more complicated.

BTW, thanks for searching before creating a new thread on the topic.

I don't, because once those eggs develop into fetuses, it's like your wife's/gf's legs automatically close shut, and you have to work your ass off to try and get back in.
