Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
I can not believe I have to say this, but here it goes.
This forum has come a long way over the past year and I just wanted to remind you of a few basic rules and courtesies of the forum. We are all adults here (if you can drive a truck on public roads you are an adult) and we need to treat this forum and its members with some respect.
- Keep bs to the bs forum and tech talk in the tech sections
- Before you post, think about how whatever you say will contribute to the overall thread... if it won't... don't post
- "boob" posts in a technical truck thread are NOT cool no matter how cool you think it is.
- Every member deserves respect from any and all other members
- I mean EVERY member. If you do not like a member, stop talking to them. If a member is causing problems on the site, report them to a moderator and we will take care of the situation.
- Infractions lead to a ban, respect moderator warnings
- Moderators do not hand out infractions for fun. If you want to stay on this forum, respect the moderators and admin. Rack up enough infractions and you get a temporary ban... easy enough.
- Moderators notice what happens day to day on this forum and many members to a great job of self moderation. Please follow their lead and help make this forum great
If you can not or do not want to follow the forum rules please click on the little red X at the top right of your screen. You do not NEED to be here, it is your choice.
Thank you...
Alon

Re: Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
AMEN! This place has come a long way over the past year, and not necessarily for the better. I know this site needs new members, but the main reason I came here was because the BS was elsewhere. Oh well, good with the bad I guess.
Thanks Alon for trying to rein in some of this crap.

I totally agree thanks Alon, let's hope this opens some eyes on how out of hand some of these threads have gotten

Re: Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
In 10+ years of participating in forums of one topic or another, I personally have resorted to contacting a moderator about another user or thread all of three times. Most stuff doesn't bother me, and I can usually filter the crap posts. I just really dislike people who start to bring the whole place down to their childish/immature/disrespectful level.
This is a quote from another auto forum I frequent, and I think it applies to nearly any forum, regardless of topic:
Quote:
Since you're new here, here's some advice. Don't worry about what other people think except when soliciting ideas purely for the sake of brainstorming and opening yourself up to options you may not have considered.
Everybody is always going to have an opinion and there are always arguments for each side. If you find what you like, and can rationalize and defend your decision, you'll be less likely to be emotionally damaged after people who disagree pick apart whatever you choose. If you base your decisions purely on aggregated external input or emotional decisions, there's ultimately going to be somebody (or somebodies) who will completely pick apart a decision and you'll start to feel like you're being ganged up on and bullied.

Keep up the great work here, I'm really enjoying this forum!

I'm going to elaborate a bit...

Essentially: Off topic discussions belong in the off topic forums.

Some members have complained about their infractions/bannings for insulting members with the excuse that "XYZ started it first." Someone else violating the rules is not a green light for anyone else to violate the rules. If another member is being insulting and you break the rules to stoop down to their level, you will be disciplined as well.

The infraction system is a courtesy to let users know when they are violating the rules, it is not meant to be abused as a get out of jail free card. Some users have developed the belief that they should be able to violate the rules a certain number of times before a banning, and that is simply not true. Some users have even made comments about how they intend to post content that break the rules but are waiting until their infractions expires to avoid being banned. So to sum it up, it's our discretion if you are going to receive a warning, infraction, or a banning.

Like warnings but with points added to them, once you've exceeded the number of allocated points you're automatically temp banned.

Re: Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
Have these threads really gotten that bad? I know I haven't been on here much, so I haven't noticed.

Re: Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
Read. Good read. And coming from a 7 year RBV forum member, it's nice to see a reminder of rules. Sometimes good fun and joking isn't proceeved the same way to others. Plus you got a few drunks and druggies that seem to stagger on here and trash talk. Lol! Love this forum! :-)

Re: Official Warning - EVERYONE READ
Nice to know someone is watching to keep it clean.
Just wanted to let the Ranger world know that my 96 Ranger is now on the SAVED list. It is now running and I am a happy camper! Also, found the PCV port, and it was just below the 2nd spark plug, not in the rear (2.3L).
