Another reason this place is dying off, not mentioned in this relatively ancient thread - new users are essentially blocked from participating.

Given that nobody ever reviews new posts by new members (one of mine has been sitting "waiting for approval" for 2 weeks), it's pretty clear why the place is so stale.

It has nothing to do with Rangers being discontinued.

I had no idea that new users had an 'approval' process to go through!

I can't say for sure what it entails - and maybe it's only the first post by a new user that gets held up.

However, after I composed a lengthy post a couple weeks back with flatbed questions - I was greeted with a message when submitting that said it wouldn't show up until a moderator approved it.

After waiting over a week, I sent a PM to Tom - no response, and the post is still not visible. I gave up and searched/asked questions elsewhere.

I've no idea why I'm able to post here now. Maybe the restriction was only in the forum I posted in, maybe it's only for new posts (not replies)...who knows.

Well, this is 'The Lounge' and even some people with mild bans can post here. I would guess you need approval before you can post in the technical threads. I just didn't know they did that here. Sorry man!

Looks like the problem has been resolved. I don't know if a moderator tweaked my account to allow posts without approval, or if only the first post made by somebody new gets held up.

Regardless, while the original post is likely held up in some moderation queue, I was able to make a new post in the exterior tech forum about the flatbed I acquired. I'll followup up there with more details and questions.

i also think that most of the people who used to be frequent flyers on here(myself included), either outgrew their rangers and went full size and moved on or they just said the hell with it and went on with life
