Lets talk about ads
FRF has grown substantially, and is constantly outgrowing itself. Member activity increases every month (EG: new posts, number of members visiting the forum daily, etc.) FRF has been using the same server for a long time and as the forum grows, the server is being utilized more and more.
Over time I have worked on optimizing the server, buying optimization software, and even hired optimization specialist. Unfortunately, this server is maxed out. Every optimization step has been taken, and now the only option is to upgrade the hardware.
Upgrading the hardware increases the server cost significantly. However, this is something that ultimately needs to be done. With new hardware comes new benefits, such as less downtime and less lag.
For a long time I’ve had pride in knowing that this is only ranger forum without advertisements. However, due to this increase in costs I’ve decided to place ads that some of you have never seen before. I know many of you dislike ads, and it’s not a decision I take lightly, but there aren’t many options. Many of you use ad-blockers and I ask that you please consider disabling your ad blocker on FRF. Even if you don’t click the ads, the ad impressions still make a big difference.
If you’re a contributing member you have the option to disable the ad on the bottom of the page. You can do that by editing your options in your control panel ( http://www.fordrangerforum.com/profi...do=editoptions ) scroll down to the bottom and select disable ads. Hopefully you’ll agree the ad is non-intrusive and keep it enabled, but it's your decision.
I’m not asking for any sort of sympathy. I feel you guys deserve an explanation, and hopefully you understand and this makes sense.

Re: Lets talk about ads
how about deleting threads and posts. I see alot of for sale ads that are closed, taking up space. Im sure no one really cares to see what was for sale a year ago. If you could thin out the heard of threads by a few thousand, im sure that would help.

Re: Lets talk about ads
I justed noticed the ads, and right now its an F150 Ford ad, which is alot better then some bullshit, cause I always love clicking on them and building my F150 for fun. Anyways, the ads are fine, its at the bottom, just don't make them inbetween posts, because that is the most annoying shit every! Anyways, next month I'll have some money, and donate to the site, hope it'll help.

Re: Lets talk about ads
how about deleting accounts that are non active. Say, 1 yr non active, delete. You could put something about it in the welcome screen or with the bot so new accounts know. How many accounts are on here that have been here since day one, but have no activity...?

Re: Lets talk about ads
Alright, Im on Google Chrome and this worked AWESOME----->
IF you do have adblock on Google Chrome, you can go to Options and add FRF as a site to SHOW ads, but have the rest of the sites you go to blocked.
I dk if you can do this on FireFox, but I'd check it out so e can help Tom out as much as possible for our beloved FRF

Old threads are basically just taking up hard drive space, which is a non-issue. There's a lot more users performing a lot more tasks which is the issue.

Re: Lets talk about ads
You ad placement is fine, so I agree with the rest of them..its out of the way, so I don't notice it. The ads where they pop up when you open the webpage are the ones I hate. If this keeps FRF working, I'm down. Also..becoming a contributing member, should help a bit too?

Re: Lets talk about ads
how much more do you earn per click vs per impression? is it worth clicking the ads randomly to get FRF that extra money?
