Re: Ford Ranger Returning in 2019

After living in and seeing the Ranger and all its competitors I have to say that from a distance all the current mid size pickups being made look homogeneous. For as good as they are they just look...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Thanks. Any thoughts on what other sensors should be cleaned while I'm at it?

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Since you're on the east coast how about a light bar with a yellow lens for those foggy and snowy days. Just don't buy the brightest damn one you can fit in there and aim it appropriately, and you...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Good to know. Is it able to be disassembled for better cleaning? I know the 99-03 could be but I'm not finding much on my year (save for the sources that say they don't have an IAC).

While I'm at...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Ran some Gumout multi-use PEA based cleaner through the vacuum line (the other half of the bottle went in the crankcase). Then drove it around before changing the oil and filter. Replaced the air...

Re: New tire choice questions

I believe the MasterCraft AXT (Cooper AT3 rebrand, made in the same factory here in the US) has superceded the AT2. AXT are a great tire, claimed tread life is just under the Coopers but cheaper and...

Re: New tire choice questions

General AT2's are good. They tend to ride a bit harder, but the wear like iron, and have decent traction (not the best in class but right about on par with BFG K0's).

Coopers are good, you can't...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Same here. Well yesterday, but whatever.

Upon removal the KYB's that were on it still seemed to work fine but some of the front bushings were shot (the result of a t-bar crank with no shock...

Re: Buying Oil Online

Neglected to mention that I wound up using Advance Auto for my diff lube, filters, and spark plugs with the promo code SAVINGS everything was 30% when ordered online and picked up in store. Bought my...

Re: 5r55e 4x4 Trans Filter Kit Question

From what I've been seeing the factory equipped ones were mesh screen, but the new replacements I'm see are showing it with proper filtering material. But still a chance you might get an old one...

Re: 5r55e 4x4 Trans Filter Kit Question

That's actually the reasons I'm considering Motorcraft and Fram kits because both of them are shown and in multiple reviews shown as having the more desirable Microfelt filter elements as opposed to...

5r55e 4x4 Trans Filter Kit Question

Alright so I'm going to change the filter in my '04 FX4 Level II and what I've come up with for part numbers are Motorcraft FT-103, Fram FT1087B (the OEM for Ford/Motorcraft), and Purolator P1237...

Re: Helping my son buy his first Ranger

Still warrants checking to make sure that Ford XL-3 (or compatible) friction modifier was added as I believe the regular clutch pack LSD's require it as well as per Ford.

Not sure that would be...

Re: Helping my son buy his first Ranger

On the gear whine, you might see when the diff oil was last changed and see if friction modifier was used (probably more likely if it had the gear operated Torsen differential).

Re: Ford Ranger Returning in 2019

I've been in and driven the current version (and it's Mazda brethren) they have over in Australia, and I can't wait. They're a touch bigger than I'd like, but that's just the way all newer vehicles...

Not sure where/why you developed that impression, but instead of being insulted I'm going to attempt to respond constructively (something I wish you might have tried first). I'm not a boutique oils...
