Re: Throttle cable bracket

HUH?

Wrong kind of cable, Vic.
A throttle cable isn't "cooper" and certainly not fiber.
You're correct in saying you're not a professional. I'd think you were just spamming.

(edit: the...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Replaced the battery. The old one was over 5 years old so I guess it was time for it to die. New one was over $150. It wasn't very long ago that batteries were less than $100.

Also changed...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Changed the brake light switch (above the brake pedal) today. A few days ago, someone pulled up beside me in traffic and said "your brake lights don't work." They did work, but only when the brake...

Re: Do I have a long bed or short bed?

Short bed is 6 feet, long bed is 7 feet. That is a short bed. I don't think extended cab Rangers have long beds.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Over the past couple of days I replaced all the heater hoses and the lower radiator hose (I replaced the upper hose a couple of years ago when I first got the truck-- the previous owner had replaced...

Re: Fix shift indicator?

Funny, I did this very fix last weekend, after watching that video... I like ChrisFix's videos.

Yes, I got the quick disconnect tool - it took a while but it finally separated.

Re: Trying to replace AC accumulator

No leaking, and it's great to have a working AC again, because we've had some sweltering days lately.
There was some spongy black padding around the old accumulator, and it was crumbling. I'm...

Re: Trying to replace AC accumulator

It is done! New accumulator is on, fresh R134a added. Will check for leaks tomorrow.

Re: Trying to replace AC accumulator

I figured as much, that it would need a tool similar to those used to remove fuel lines.

Trying to replace AC accumulator

While trying to add refrigerant in the AC of my Ranger, I noticed it was leaking rapidly and saw refrigerant leaking through rust in the accumulator. Ordered a new one and managed to get the old one...

Re: my truck starts shaking when i press the gas

I notice on my truck, it only exhibits a slight hesitation (while accelerating from a standing start) when it's low on gas (which is good because my fuel gauge still doesn't work).

Re: What other Fords have you owned?

The first car I owned was a '67 Falcon, bought in 1982 for $300 - drove it for a couple of years before the valves crapped out (they stopped selling leaded gas by then).

Re: wants to die at idle / idles really rough suddenly

Agreed. Replaced the PCV valve on mine; it's hard to get at but not impossible. The valve has two openings at the top and a small plug that can be broken off and used to plug the smaller opening. ...

Re: Ranger was taken too soon...

Sounds almost like what happened to me over three years ago when my Mazda B2500 was rear-ended at a traffic light - there were two SUVs behind me; one hit the other and the other hit me. I was not...

Re: How do you remove the sides of a bed?

I have a similar question: how to remove the entire bed? I need to access the fuel tank. The gauge doesn't work, and I think the filler neck has a leak.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread III

Changed and flushed the coolant yesterday, because on opening the radiator cap (when the engine was cool), I found some residue like yellow cottage cheese floating around the opening. Also removed...

Re: Non Ranger Daily Drivers?

Mine is a '95 Volvo 850. Still has get-up-and-go for having over 300,000 miles.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread III

Replaced the lighter socket, and cleaned out the glove box. It rained today so there wasn't much to do. Finally got the title on Friday, so I plan to get a tag tomorrow.

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?

166,000 on my '97, which I bought three weeks ago (still awaiting the title).
My old '98 Mazda B2500 had over 350,000 miles when I gave it up three years ago (it got rear-ended, with only a bashed...

Re: Can't secure window trim all the way to passenger door. Any ideas?

I had to install one of those things also. Each of the clips has three prongs, the center prong is curved out. I thought it went on the outside of the top ridge but actually all three prongs go...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread III

Installed another panel dimmer control, one with the proper connector jack. Now it will turn on the dome light and cargo light, as it should.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread III

When I had my Mazda Ranger-in-all-but-name years ago, I was working at a TV station out in the boonies, and one of my tires was very low. I found a tank of nitrogen in the back of the station (they...
