Re: Is a new Ford GEM module pre-programmed?

Technically you donít have a GEM, you have a CTM (central timer module).

You can get a 2x4 GEM or a 2x4 CTM and they will both work. The only difference is the 2x4 GEM has the auto down function...

Re: Is a new Ford GEM module pre-programmed?

The main thing for a 2wd that requires programming is the tire size.

The programming function of forscan is only on the PC version.

Re: Does the 2.3 DOHC (2002) have an EGR self-test?

Check out the OBD2 theory for 2002 gas engines on the motorcraft site. Page 28 shows the section for egr.

Re: 99 ranger 2wd front suspension

Itís not a damn Mazda design. People need to stop spreading that shit. Itís essentially the same engine in the 1970s Pintos.

Re: Power door installation

Iíve donít this to a 2000 model and itís a fun project. For a 98 you will have to swap the engine bay harness (from the 2 bulk head connector all the way around to the blower motor, including fuse...

Re: 2.5 stumbles on idle when cold

Wonít work on your 93 as it is OBD1 but it will work on your 2000 OBD2 truck. The adapter i use is BAFX products Bluetooth adapter (like $22 from Amazon).

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Good to hear. Clear the codes and periodically check mode $06.

Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Just have to unplug vacuum line at valve on back top of intake manifold.

How the hell can ford tell you they do t have a scan tool to work on this truck? iDS (fords new system) has all the...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

If you leave it unplugged it will cause a vacuum leak when the egr vacuum solenoid is activated. To avoid this unplug the vacuum line And unplug the electrical connector to the egr vacuum solenoid....

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

The misfires and dying could be unrelated, just a thought.

Could be the IAC dashpot function. Computer should anticipate the RPMs dropping suddenly from the deceleration and ramp up IAC duty...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

You have to check all the outputs. Making sure your fuel pressure is good to rule out fuel pump driver. Have to also check primary ignition output from the PCM as well.

You need to find a good...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Could take a long screwdriver or prybar and press against the injectors with your ear up against the handle (also use mechanics stethoscope). Should hear consistent clicking. Use the #1 injector for...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Thats ok if you don't have a vacuum pump because you can use your engine as one. Disconnect the red plastic vacuum line that goes through the 1st and 2nd intake runner. Take your vacuum line of the...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

You got the PC version of Forscan? You can manually change the EGR solenoid signal and see if there is a change in vacuum being applied. I would assume 100% duty cycle gets you manifold vacuum and 0%...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

If you disconnected the vacuum line to the valve and it idle better, it sounds like vacuum was being applied to the valve. This shouldnít be happening at idle. Next time put your finger on the end of...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Look at page 24 in the OBD-II theory:

"Conversion for Test ID $41: If value is > 32,767, the value is negative. Take value, subtract 65,536, and then
multiply result by 0.0078 to get inches of...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Did the truck mess up at all at this time?

Btw I can get Mode $06 data to reset if you go into the error section and reset codes (even if there arenít any).

Iím still thinking something in the...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

If your LTFT are jumping up that high then that is pointing to your issue. Cylinders 3 and 4 doing the misfire? That makes me think EGR as the EGR is on the back side of the intake close to runners 4...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Static compression only tells you one side. At startup you may not have enough pressure to fully pump up the lash adjusters. Could be an issue with worn valve seats/receded and the compression loss...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

140 is kinda low for this engine if done properly. Compression checks should be done warm and with the throttle held wide open. If it wasnít done this way then I could see it being this low. I get...

Re: Why does Mode 6 Test 53 shows I have 10 cylinders on a 4 cylinder?

Thatís just a check valve in the tank thatís bad, shouldnít affect anything but the crank time.

Your vacuum gauge showing 14 at idle? Thatís low.
