Re: transmission, shutdown issue

Steaming coolant could mean low coolant, bad thermostat or water pump, or belt, what did the temp read at shutdown? have you checked the oil for coolant?

Re: Oil pressure drop.

You didn't say how often you've changed oil and filter, and for what reason did you use seafoam in the oil. If it was because the oil looked black and hadn't been changed for a long period, it might...

Re: 1st gear almost impossible while not moving

Can you work it through all gears with the engine off? Do you have pressure on the clutch petal all the way to the floor, or just feel pressure the last couple inches or so? It sounds like a clutch...

Re: Leak question

Guessing with the engine dead the oil level would be around 4 to 6 inches below the lower part of the seal. And the leak could be up above, just behind the intake on the passenger side, that's where...

Re: Narrower rear end

Don't know for fact, but have heard the early Bronco 2's were narrower than the ranger. Also if the early rangers were narrower spring mounting pads may be different than later ones. And early ones...

Re: Clutch issue has me stumped

All I could see in 4 vids was of the slave working, if in fact the shifter is in, and will move through all 5 forward and rev when the engine is dead, its possible that the pilot bearing got damaged...

Re: Timing chain questions and options

I'd pull the timing cover and see what's wrong before worrying about what to buy and pay for it, find the problem first.

Re: Will a 2wd transmission fit in a 4x4??

Re: Oil filter change on 3.0 V6

If you change it that hot you're gonna burn you hands taking the drain plug out, unless you got one of those fancy, just turn the valve an let it run. Also a hot filter isn't going to be any kind of...

Re: Auction bought 04 ranger edge

The minor shake at idle and take off could be a valve starting burn, its a pain to run a compression test on that engine, but it would give you an idea.

Re: Creating a PTO option...

With the pinion turning the ring gear in normal operation, the ring would be turned slower at what ever speed. But reverse that, and having the ring turning the pinion, it would be turning lots...

Re: Creating a PTO option...

The crank pully on your truck is around what, 7 or 8 inches in dia. and the alt pulley is like 2-1/2 2-3/4? So would need to figure what the drive shaft would be turning at given speed, then work the...

Re: Good rpms, no power

The trans could be slipping, does the trans oil smell burnt, or is it real brown looking, could be the filter is clogged.

Re: 04 V6 ranger - grinding noise in stick shifter

Sitting at idle in natural with the clutch held down, is the noise present? if so you could blame the throw out bearing. If the noise is heard with your foot off the clutch you could suspect the...
