Re: New (not re-man) NAPA Alternator died in a hundred miles, bearings shot

Could an aging serpentine belt have put too much tension on the alternator bearing? It doesn't make much sense to me because all the other accessories have been fine for tens of thousands of miles,...

Re: New (not re-man) NAPA Alternator died in a hundred miles, bearings shot

I'll have to check when I'm home but I recall a lifetime warranty. But honestly who cares, when it leaves you stranded, all I care about is getting the best part.

New (not re-man) NAPA Alternator died in a hundred miles, bearings shot

I paid more for a NEW not remanufactured alternator from NAPA ($160), which I maybe naively think of as having better stuff than the other big box stores. The bearings sound like broken glass and...

Re: Alternator 15a fuse keeps blowing, happened on new and old alt

I just replaced the 15a fuse and I couldn't even get it into the fuse block before it blew.

I also noticed my new NAPA alternator seems to be making a subtly rattling sound.

Alternator 15a fuse keeps blowing, happened on new and old alt

Last week my '95 2.3L with 200k miles showed low to no volts on the alternator. The 15a mini fuse was blown, I replaced it and briefly got voltage then it blew again. I replaced the entire...

Re: '95 2.3 Volt gauge dipped to red = bad alt or VR

Found it on the firewall between the battery and power dist. box. Well I blew another 15a fuse which is heavily suggesting the VR is at fault. Removed the alt and will replace tomorrow.

Re: '95 2.3 Volt gauge dipped to red = bad alt or VR

Will do. Looking at the wiring diagram I see the "starter relay" acts as a junction for many of the alternator B+ wires. Is that the relay in the power distribution box or the solonoid on the...

Re: '95 2.3 Volt gauge dipped to red = bad alt or VR

The 15a mini fuse in the power distribution block was blown. I replaced it but the volt meter is still reading low, a multimeter shows 11.8v when running, and the battery light is still on.

'95 2.3 Volt gauge dipped to red = bad alt or VR

The volt meter on my '95 2.3 with 200k miles has always been pegged in the middle. Yesterday it fairly rapidly went low then to the red. Seeing 11.4 volts at the battery when running. Battery...

No action at A/C clutch - steps?

Guys I looked thru all the wiring diagrams but still can't tell what I'm supposed to expect at the a/c clutch on my 95 2.3L. Should I jump +12 and ground directly to the 2 pin connector? Or is the...

Re: A/C electrical diagrams? 95 2.3

Thanks - great site!

I'm still having a hard time finding the meat of the A/C system's wiring but am cobbling it together. Guess I'm naive after working on mostly 60's-70's cars where you get a...

A/C electrical diagrams? 95 2.3

I've searched this forum and looked thru the autozone diagrams but can't find something that shows how the a/c is wired. I want to jump the clutch to isolate a problem and then go from there.

2.3L - are both oxygen sensors threaded?

Re: Need new cat pipe for 1995 2.3 4x4 - best bet?

That seems like a great deal. Does your truck get emissions tested and pass with that unit?
