Re: 1996 B4000 5-speed questions

Have you checked the fluid level in the master cyl reservore? If its empty, that's one way air can get in, also the master cyl can wear causing air to be sucked in. Could be the clutch is worn out,...

Re: Clutch difficult to downshift from 3rd

Re: 98 Ranger XLT Bell Housing Torque

Your post is misleading, asking how to torque bolts, then stating it popped and went togather, hopefully nothing broke.

Re: Another battery cable replacement question

Might be some wright-ups, but most time it's just a do thing. Not the most pleasant job, remove the battery, start with the ground cable first, it will have some holding clamps bolted to different...

Re: 98 Ranger XLT Bell Housing Torque

Sometimes it helps to place a jack under the engine, then remove the trans crossmember, letting the rear down will help.

Re: 98 Ranger XLT Bell Housing Torque

Are you talking torque, as in how many foot pounds, or how to tighten them? we never torque those, just use a standard 1/2 inch ratchet and some extentions, and on some a universal joint.

Re: Shorter drive belt considerations

You can get belts for trucks without air, just slip it on and go, the crank is what drives things, and it only changes speed with rpm's.

Re: Hydraulic lifter removal 2.5 liter 1998 4cyl

It doesn't take much pressure to push the valve down, unk has changed many of them without any trouble, but anything can happen.

Re: Starter won't disengage

If it works on the bench but not on the truck, be looking for two wires touching that shouldn't be.

Re: transmission, shutdown issue

Steaming coolant could mean low coolant, bad thermostat or water pump, or belt, what did the temp read at shutdown? have you checked the oil for coolant?

Re: Oil pressure drop.

You didn't say how often you've changed oil and filter, and for what reason did you use seafoam in the oil. If it was because the oil looked black and hadn't been changed for a long period, it might...

Re: 94 Ranger 2.3 Manual Transmission stuck in Reverse

Pull the shifter back out, with a light look down in the trans at the shifter mech, one rail will be out of line, using a large screwdriver, move it back in line, replace the shifter and go.

Re: 1st gear almost impossible while not moving

Can you work it through all gears with the engine off? Do you have pressure on the clutch petal all the way to the floor, or just feel pressure the last couple inches or so? It sounds like a clutch...

Re: Leak question

Guessing with the engine dead the oil level would be around 4 to 6 inches below the lower part of the seal. And the leak could be up above, just behind the intake on the passenger side, that's where...

Re: Narrower rear end

Don't know for fact, but have heard the early Bronco 2's were narrower than the ranger. Also if the early rangers were narrower spring mounting pads may be different than later ones. And early ones...
