Re: Seat Belt dinger

Most vehicles have a speaker somewhere, where one can disconnect one wire and be done with it. Ford experts tell me this is not possible with the GEM concept.

I have done the leventy million step...

Re: Seat Belt dinger

I did that, the day I got the truck. Seemed pretty silly, and I expected all chimes associated with the seat belt to be gone.

Nope - it stopped that insistent chime when you drove off with the...

Seat Belt dinger

I would like to stop the seven chimes that occur when you start before buckling up - or when you turn the radio on.

I note two blue wires going to the buckle - if I short these two wires together,...

new thread button

Why is this new thread button so difficult to find on the normal forums? I am unable to find it where I would like to post - it appears only once in a while.

Re: Dumped the Toyota, got a Ranger

I did the dinger mod - it was trivial, except for being able to actually get my big meathooks in there to twist the wires.

Only problem is, it did not silence the seat belt ding. Is there another...

Re: GEM connector

Cancel the request - it is just a little tab on the outside. Trivial. Not so trivial is how to get the seat belt dinger to shut up.

GEM connector

So I am ready to pull the 26 pin connector, but don't want to break it in the process. Does it have a sliding catch, or something to depress before it is pulled, or is it simply held in there by...

Re: Dumped the Toyota, got a Ranger

So, Tom - the radio is out, and the proper connector is identified. Do I just pull downward, or is there a lever or catch that needs to be slid to the side before the connector is removed.

Greg's...

Re: Ford ranger or toyota "pre" tacoma truck.?

I just gave a Toyota away and bought a Ranger. The Toyota - at least the six cylinder version - has very expensive engine flaws.

That said, Toyotas ride better and get better gas mileage by a...

Re: Dumped the Toyota, got a Ranger

Thank you. I would be happy with the 17 mpg that others report. I will check. As far as photos are concerned, this one looked brand factory new to me. There was not a speck or a scratch anywhere,...

Dumped the Toyota, got a Ranger

Yep - I am a Xenophobe, and always had Fords. The Ranger always looked good to me, and has an excellent reputation. The Toyota got good mileage and rode like a Beemer, but a stupid power steering...
