Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

Whoa.

This has been super helpful in getting me oriented to what I actually have.

Now I have to go back to the question about what to do to replace my worn-out shocks...

You gave me...

Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

Are you able to see the Window sticker that I posted? It lists it as "2006 FX4 Off-Road SC 4x4 XLT 126" Wheelbase..."

So when you say "plain old XLT" you mean XLT with the FX4 "upfitting"?

Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

Another thing I'm wondering about - the window sticker shows "OPtional 4.10 Ratio Limited Slip axle".

I know that was standard with the Level II, but it was a 31 spline 8.8 axle with Torsen LS.

Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

So there is a description of "Premium Off Road" and also "Off-Road Package, Std Duty Torsion Bar Suspension"

As far as I can figure out, there are three possible configurations for 2006:

1....

Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

Interesting. Googling the part #6L5Z-18124-A finds a lot of hits on companies selling Ford parts, but you're saying that this part is no longer available through Ford?

For example, Summit Racing...

Re: "High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

After doing a bit more research, I found a lot of people recommending KYB MonoMax shocks. I contacted KYB about them and here's what they said:

so that leaves me with three options I've found...

"High Ryder Option w/ FX4 Bilstein Suspension"

OK... at 206,000 miles it is time to replace the shocks on the Ranger. Its a 2006 FX4 Level II with the Alcoa wheels and 31" BFG tires.

It is 90% used for weekend hunting trips, but they usually...

Jingly-Jangly sound while rolling down the road

Your description in that other thread had me smiling; sounds exactly like what Iím trying to track down. And a loose part inside a brake drum would make EXACTLY the sound Iím hearing. Looks like I...

Re: Jingly-Jangly sound while rolling down the road

Thanks again. Definitely not the starter motor. Doesn't sound like its coming from the engine compartment (and doesn't make the noise while sitting still, only when rolling).

It literally sounds...

Re: Jingly-Jangly sound while rolling down the road

Good suggestion. It seems too constant to be exhaust (More like something rotating) but Iíll definitely crawl around and check all the heat shields.

Jingly-Jangly sound while rolling down the road

Hey guys,

2006 FX4, 205k miles. Bone stock, including Alcoa wheels. Only thing "special" is the 31" BFG AT tires.

We've had the truck about two years, and we use it for hunting trips and the...

Re: Coolant leak, front passenger side under alternator

OK so I just pulled the entire t-stat housing and I can't see any obvious cause of leaks on the housing. Unfortunately the residual coolant in the upper radiator hose dumped all over my work area, so...

Coolant leak, front passenger side under alternator

Hey guys,

Did a lot of searching and most hits refer to leaky T-stat housings, but I don't think thats what the problem is here. (This is my son's truck and I'm just getting familiar with it so I...
