Re: Accelerator stuck, went into neutral then hit 6000 rpm

If it has not shown any difference in the way it runs so far, you are likely fine. It is not uncommon for the engines to rev to 5k or more when set up for 'track' use.
A better solution, or one...

Re: 2000 Ranger 2.5 chipped piston

Rock has a set for less than $25. Unless a full set is going to be installed, I'd use the old rings and do NOTHING to the cylinder wall. If the cylinder is damaged, it will be what it is, and if...

Re: 2001 2.3L coolant hoses. Anyone have OEM part numbers?

From the picture, it appears that a length of heater hose of the correct diameter would replace those two easily. They do not appear to be formed or pre-curved in any way, and you can lay a length...

Re: The never ending P0171 lean code 97 2.3l ranger

You may find one on ebay or similar. Your library may have them on the shelf, and you may be able to copy pertinent pages. Your library may have access to "EBSCO" or another site with information...

Re: Power steering pump

Don't bet more than a donut or two, but I think the Teflon seals are used on the metal lines to/from the rack, and the O-ring is used on the other end, at the pump outlet fitting.
If you got the...

Re: 2000 Ranger 2.5 chipped piston

At that price, it sure makes sense. My mental pricer had pistons at above $40 each for new, and I've never seen pistons that cheap. Why didn't you post that link before? Wold have been a help, I...

Re: 2000 Ranger 2.5 chipped piston

So, as you have found, the $20 piston you noted is not available. Hmm. As far as a boneyard disassembling an engine, you may have to search for a boneyard that has some engines that have been...

Re: The never ending P0171 lean code 97 2.3l ranger

QUOTE:it's had the exact same lean code. I have replaced the MAF 4 times already. I replaced the tps, iac, coil packs, plugs, wires, crankshaft sen,*camshaft*sensor, AND the computer. I've also had...

ati:Makes no sense to get a used piston when a new one is $20.

Well, it does in...

Re: Type F atf

Type F was used in Ford transmissions while Dexron was used in GM. I doubt it will have any effect on power steering pump noise. I assume you have a whining pump, in most cases caused by running...

Re: 2000 Ranger 2.5 chipped piston

Were it mine, I would at least find a used piston. Exposing the topmost ring directly to combustion chamber activity is not a recipe for longevity.
The cylinder wall shows streaks in the image.....

Nope. Not gonna go.

Re: How much PAG oil to put in replacement AC compressor

Don't get the spray into the intake manifold... I think silicone may be poison to catalytic converters. I have read about the RTV silicone being dangerous, maybe it was O2 sensors, but it may be...

Re: Too wide clearance on exhaust valve, won't close

If the tip of the valve stem gets 'mushroomed', it may bind in the guide(will.).

If the valve stem has enough deposits of cooked oil/fuel/carbon, it may bind in the guide.

If the guide has...

Re: Serpentine belt

If the path of the serpentine will miss the A/C pulley, there's no problem using a non-A/C belt. Perhaps if you look at the underhood belt diagram, on the radiator support or the underside of the...

Re: How much PAG oil to put in replacement AC compressor

I have yet to lube an IAC. But, if I did, I'd try some silicone spray.

Given that WD-40 mostly evaporates, I suspect that it cleaned or loosened some crud in the IAC, and allowed the spool to...

Re: Brand new head ticks ideas?

You have two choices that I can figure. Figure out which lifter support is loose, remove the follower and pull/replace that support, or, do the job over from scratch, and get another new head.
If...

Re: How much PAG oil to put in replacement AC compressor

If you look around on The River, you can find small probe type cameras that work with USB connection to Androis, i???s, and PCs. For less than $15 you can get a 5mm in diameter probe on the end of a...

Re: What pins do I need to jump on the diagnostic plug to get DTC’s..?

Re: How much PAG oil to put in replacement AC compressor

Most compressors come dry. There are 2(at least) oils that can be used with 134a, so they don't decide which on for you. (PAG and Ester)
The drain and add one advice is pretty much what I have...

Re: Compressor chirping

I would suspect the A/C clutch bearing. When not in use, the pulley on the compressor still spins, using the clutch bearing. When you engage the clutch, the bearing locks to the compressor, more or...

Re: Transmission trouble 2003 2.3 l rwd, where to buy new one?

Unless you want to try to repair the problem yourself, I'd suggest finding a local shop that works on automatics. There are good ones and there are ones not-so-good, so you have to ask around to...

Re: Intermittent Cruise Control

If you are concerned you don't have enough strong vacuum, you can add a vacuum reservoir and a check valve that will 'keep' the vacuum in the reservoir intact when the vacuum drops in the intake...
