Re: Missfire after plug change

Thanks stateranger. I found that too while I was looking around, what a mess that intake would make...

So, I started the truck after Seafoaming the engine. Absolutely no smoke. I took it down the...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Seafoamed the tank last night after re-installing the newest batch of Motorcraft plugs. Ran like crap all the way to work. Checked the gap on the plugs before coming home and the rear two on the...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Well. That failed miserably too. It sounded pretty good and was holding idle a little over a grand but as it warmed the rpm's dropped and it threw a light on. Think I may be off work on a sick day to...

Re: Missfire after plug change

It should still have most of its warranty left. The NGK's could have been hotter. These Motorcrafts are direct replacements. It ran like crap with those two old plugs. Should I try gapping to .60 on...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Why would detonation pop up all of a sudden?

----------

The plugs are identical in shape and size. No washers, just shoulders on the plug body. Rear two are in. Going to fire it again and see...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Just for the hell of it I pulled the rear two plugs on the passenger side. Middle gap was down to .50. The rear is down to .45. I'm throwing two of the five original plugs that I can find back in...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Firing order and wires are all correct. Regapped it and it starts and runs fine on high idle as it warms up it gets worse. Idle is sitting around 800rpms and still has a miss to it.

Re: Missfire after plug change

Okay. Plugs are SP-412 AGSF24N

Wires are WR-6120 5U2Z-12259-C

Forgot to grab an air filter and I was too far from the dealer when I remembered. Picked up some new contact cleaner and Sea Foam....

Re: Missfire after plug change

I'll go over it again but I honestly don't see a vacuum off or cracked. I'll pull up a firing order schematic and check the order my wires are in. I can't see how I switched them up. They were still...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Yeah. Think I will. I have the receipts from the tune up in the truck, now that I shaved it I highly doubt they will replace or warranty. It was a tough call on whether to shave the end but I need...

Re: Missfire after plug change

So ran not too shabby to get coffee. On the way back the idle took a dump again. Still no engine light though.

With every plug change I've ever done I always unplug one wire at a time so I don't...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Yes! The the ground electrode bends to meet the central electrode. Never seen anything like it. Three different cylinders this has appeared on. Initially I thought it was crap metal used in the...

Re: Missfire after plug change

Thanks Bob. So just got to work, about a twenty minute drive. Ran good up here. No surging or weird stuff at a stop. Still has that slight ticking, almost like a spark knock or small exhaust leak. No...

Missfire after plug change

I'm stumped. Last Friday I changed out the plugs on my 2011 4.0 to NGK V-Powers. I also changed the air filter and oil. When I started it afterwards it had a pretty rough idle and was missfiring, no...
