I understand where your coming from but just had a 06 expo have the lower thermostat housing dump coolant ford updated that part to a metal

Agreed but I was planning on doing the thermostat housing anyway since they are a very common problem on the 4.0s rather replace it now then lose all my coolant going down the road

Yes both axle have a little movement but I figured thats normal our toyota cv axles have little play in them new

Just your standard gunk no major flakes or metals, and everything is motorcraft from ford, filter, fluid and gasket and o rings are ok double checked everything before i bolted back up.

Fluid level is right on the mark and no just wanted it done was getting to be the brownish color and yes filter is 4x4 it has the deep neck for the deeper pan in 4x4

Carried it to a local muffler shop and they did it they make there own pipes in house, the cut it after cats as soon as the pipes straighten out then ran new pipe back.

Yeah that came off the top of the stick above where the fluid touches you can't see it on the stick but it wipes off on the stick, all the vehicles I've ever check trans fluid in has done the same...
