Re: Elusive timing issue?

Ok. Sorry about the delayed response but....work. You know how it is. So, this morning I've had the chance to really investigate this knock. The rough idle was a cracked vac hose at the charcoal...

Re: Elusive timing issue?

Perfect! Exactly the answer I was looking for. That is how I understand it too but a second opinion is always best. So, you suggest starting from scratch on TDC with the sensor instead of just giving...

Elusive timing issue?

Ok. This is going to long winded but I really need some input from some other mechanics.

Just pulled my engine to replace a couple deteriorated freeze plugs and while it was out I went ahead and...

Am I right? Long Thread

Just bought my first Ranger this past Christmas and I was completely aware of a head gasket leak (external coolant) and all six freeze plugs on the sides of the block were leaking. So, an engine pull...

Re: Replaceing a head gasket on a 99 4.0

It'll be a little tough but not impossible. I had a couple of other knick knacks to deal with on mine so i pulled it. Made the head gaskets cake. I forgot one thing you may have to get....if you have...

Re: Replaceing a head gasket on a 99 4.0

I am literally in the process of dropping my 4.0 back in my '96 after a complete check/overhaul on the top end. Head gaskets and all other seals, inspection of valves, cylinder walls, etc. The only...

Re: New To Forum, Needing some Help

I'm having an issue with "disappearing antifreeze" too. Found it last week, its winter time so making sure your antifreeze/water ratio is appropriate for your climate is key. I've just purchased this...

Re: Vacuum issues, EGR, 4x4, HVAC damper

Thanks. In the process of trying to troubleshoot the problem, I've checked and replaced all of the tubing in the EGR system and even bought a new sensor to try. Still throwing the code. How do you go...

Re: Vacuum issues, EGR, 4x4, HVAC damper

The damper is stuck on what I would say is the default position (defrost). Can't adjust the direction of air flow. E.g. vent, floor, mix, etc. Also, just tinkering in the parking lot at work today. I...

Re: Vacuum issues, EGR, 4x4, HVAC damper

The code is P0401. Insufficient EGR flow. So, the 4WD issue and the HVAC issue have nothing to do with that. But could the two be tied together?

Question Vacuum issues, EGR, 4x4, HVAC damper

I just bought my truck recently and I am having the same 4WD LOW light flash in the dash but no response at all from the hubs when I turn the switch. I also keep throwing an EGR code and my HVAC...
