Re: CYA Battery Questions

Put a battery load tester on it. If it passes, I'd leave it alone. Usually batteries give a little bit of a warning in the form of slow cranking. When that happens, change it.

Re: Doubt: Normal Oil Consumption

I wouldn't recommend synthetic in a 1998. That could be the problem as the seals were designed for conventional.

Re: Brake drum diameter

Just curious, why does my XL 2wd have 10"? Base model and it doesn't even have cruise control and has minimal springs. I suppose it could have been changed, but why?

To the OP, you can crawl under...

Re: Should I Buy This Ranger?

Right. So many people think that since it has no miles, it is worth double or more than the average price. It's not brand new. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a new truck. Plus things...

Re: Should I Buy This Ranger?

The 3.0 is not very powerful to begin with. It also has some reliability issues. Hope the owners kept the oil changed very often. $10k sounds a little high IMO

Re: Water Pump

Basically discount auto parts stores like advance, autozone, etc don't rebuild alternators, water pumps, calipers, and others. They take in the cores, take them apart, clean up and glass bead the...

Re: Hard to start 1991 4.0L

If it takes 15-20 cycles of the key to get it to start, that sounds like a bad relay or lazy/gummed up injectors. That is pretty odd though. I guess start testing relays.

Re: 98 ranger 4.0 lean in both banks puzzled

I have the same codes and have been ignoring it for awhile because it runs fine (unlike yours) which is not the right thing to do I know. Mine seemed to start when I had custom exhaust put on. Do you...

Re: Speed tops out at 90 miles per hour

Vehicles are speed limited a couple miles slower than what the speed rating is on the original tires. Now think of those discount tires you bought awhile back. They probably have a low speed rating....

Re: 2007 Ranger - Passenger Airbag Recall 16S26

The truck has been driven for 11 years. If it was going to randomly go off, likely it would have happened by now. Just keep bugging the dealership till you get it fixed. Hopefully it is before the...

Re: Plugged rear diff vent causing rear seal leak?

You definitely want the axle vent working so go ahead and clean/replace that. The seals might straighten up afterwards.

Re: Tow behind rv

I would think that putting it in neutral would be ok. Not 100% sure.

Manual transfer case or electronic?

Re: Canít turn traction control all the way off on 2011?

In mud you want wheel speed to clean the treads out. On snow, you don't want to spin much because you will polish the snow into ice and make it worse. So for some typical leadfoots, traction control...

Re: What is causing this? How should I fix it?

How to fix properly? get rid of that useless unsafe lift and run it at the stock ride height.

You will be tearing up u-joints quickly with that setup.

Re: I need your opnion please

Dealing with rust is a loosing battle. I would definitely stay away from the 2001 automatic with rust.

I get about 16-18 mpg with my 4.0 2wd 5 speed. I do have a heavy foot to enjoy my custom loud...
