Re: 1999 ford ranger 2.5 slack in steering

I'll be interested in this as well. In the oder steering boxes there was just such an adjustment, not sure if that still applies or not

Re: Checking interest: Retrofitting services

I do recommend this service. He did mine, and I love them. But I wouldn't waste the $$ on OEM. Since you are going to replace the guts anyway. But talk to him and let him guide you.

Re: which engine oil?

That is a good data point about boosted cars. I haven't owned one in so long, well, lets just say that synthetic wasn't a question then, and leave it at that shall we?

Re: Best year 4cyl for highway commuting

My '07 4.0 has been stone cold reliable the entire time I have owned it. Going on 6 years.

And equally outside of your parameters, I had a '98 2.5l lima engine Ranger that ran on the highway at...

Re: which engine oil?

I currently run Mobile1 because I find it on sale at CostCo. I have used Fords, but it is a blend.

This will be a question that starts plenty of arguments...lol!

Re: Ranger down!

In my world, maintenance is more than just those two items. But then I am not claiming mid-twenties MPG out of a crown vic. No two ways about it, it is fantastic. EPA estimate was 23, all highway,...

Re: Ranger down!

Lol, I had to go back and re-read it. I was thinking I got 25 out of my 2.5l 5spd Ranger. 25 out of a failing Crown Vic? I gotta agree, no way.

Re: FRF Watercooler/BS Thread 2017

I know some guys that make exhausts. But that 500-800? Pretty normal.

Re: F150 is really big

You can build and price the new Ranger right now on Ford's website. The base F150 is very base. The base Ranger will not be as spartan. Base F150 is a regular cab, the Ranger won't have a regular...

Re: FRF Watercooler/BS Thread 2017

That thing is in really great shape!

I sat on a Grom the other day at the dealer. So tiny, but it looks like it would be a blast! But I didn't buy it, too much going on with the new house,...

Re: 2019 ranger pricing finalized info inside.p

Completely agree. I think the days of that kind of stuff are long gone. AC, power locks and windows, cruise control. All standard no longer options.

Re: 2019 ranger pricing finalized info inside.p

https://shop.ford.com/build/ranger/#/select/

I made a 4 door 4X4 FX4 LAriat that was $46k.

They are starting them just under the GM's, above the Nissan, under the Honda, WAY under the Taco.

Re: Softer Springs?

Shocks won't help with the ride, their job is to stop the suspension oscillation when you hit a bump. You can look at the door tag and see what springs each truck has. That will certainly affect...

Re: Need help with new Firestone tires

Should be pretty easy to check the rims for run out while the tires are still on the truck.

As for 'one optimal combination' that may be, but that is not how it is done. On my motorcycle, there...

Re: Large leak from firewall hose

If you have a garage that you can do the work in once you need the heater, sure. If you don't, fix it now. So you don't have to freeze your ass off doing it. But bypassing it until you actually do...

Re: Large leak from firewall hose

That is a suck-ass job for sure. After doing it on my '98, I could understand why the shop wanted $700 to put in a $40 part.
