Re: 98 ranger 4.0 lean in both banks puzzled

I previously had this and the wiring was burnt through for the egr valve causing a non working egr valve. Also a bad fuel pump can cause this.ie low pump pressure

Re: Rattle Sound around 3000 RPM

It is possible you need to replace timing chain tensioners. There are 2 of them. would also consider draining oil into oil drain pan and check bottom of pan for any small pieces of plastic which...

Re: 31s on stock 2010 4x4?

anyways don't want to argue but that tire change will throw off gas mileage calculation because of 7% change in tire circumference

Re: 31s on stock 2010 4x4?

31 inch was not a stock tire on a ford ranger but if you are not geared for it you will notice a difference.the two largest tire sizes were 235/75/15 and 255/55/16. No 31😆

Re: Speedo 10mph off help

Two thoughts. First I thought the 2001 ford ranger had a 2.3 liter not 2.5 as was replaced by smaller motor. Need to swap in a known good speedometer to check.

Re: 98 XLT tire question - yes, I read the sticky/chart

had a 2002 ranger with 225/70/15 tires and ran perfectly with that size. 2.3 liter motor. do not believe you can run 31s without lifting.
235/75/15 should be fine. lots of clearance for that size.
