Have to disagree with you on the superchips part. A superchip flashpaq tuner does work for your truck and you will see gains. Nothing huge by any means but it does work. its not as good as SCT custom...

If I were you I would be spending more time chasing some tail than trying to do a V8 swap. Start with a small budget and make some changes as you go.
