There is a difference in going bad and bad (failed). Going bad yes you would have oil pressure and yes sometimes erratic. Bad as in failed and not in mechanical working order no oil pressure.

if it were the cam sync bad you wouldn't have some oil pressure you would have NO oil pressure.

If it is the original cam sync then not a bad idea at all to change it but not sure in his case this will fix the oil pressure problem he is having. Cam syncs are easy to replace and an inexpensive...

His op say his oil pressure is only low when cold but does when its warm. If cam sync was bad the engine would let you know before it gets warm. By the time the engine was to normal operating temp...

If the gear on the cam sync has failed you will have no oil pressure due to the cam sync gear driven off the cam runs your oil pump. However he would have no oil pressure, cam sensor wouldnt be...
