Re: E brake sticks after rain

OK that's interesting, I found a set of ceramic shoes so maybe that'll fix the problem. I'll keep you guys updated with what I end up doing and if it works. Thanks for all the replies and if anyone...

Re: E brake sticks after rain

Well the last time they stuck I had parked at a store nose in, and I was able to back out OK but not go forward. I could tell they were dragging going backwards but it wasn't enough to stop the truck...

E brake sticks after rain

So I've had the same issue on both my Rangers, 94 and 97, that if I leave the e brake engaged during a rain or even if it's disengaged during a rain but then I try to use it shortly after, it will...

Re: Rattle During Idle with Ac On

So I noticed something else today. The rattle is also present when the headlights are all turned on at once. So it seems to me that it's the extra load from the accessories (ac and alternator) that's...

Re: Rattle During Idle with Ac On

Sorry about the delay I finally got around to taking the belt off and it still does the same thing. I listened around with a stethoscope and the rattle definitely seems to be coming from the...

Re: Rattle During Idle with Ac On

OK I'll try that when I get a chance, I had pretty much ruled out pulleys because of how much louder the sound is back in the bellhousing area but I might as well be thorough about it. I'll let you...

Re: Rattle During Idle with Ac On

I can try that, but I can almost guarantee it won't show up with the belt off. Like I said it only shows up when there's load on the belt like the ac compressor and alternator from having the...

Re: Rattle During Idle with Ac On

I thought that only spins when you have the clutch pushed in? My trucks rattle goes away when I push the clutch in

Rattle During Idle with Ac On

I bought a 97 ranger 2.3 2wd 5 Speed and it has a strange rattle when idling in neutral, but it's only audible with the ac compressor is on, and is louder if the headlights are on. So in other words...

Low mileage ranger spider gear wear

Hi everyone, I recently noticed that my driveshaft going into the differential has a lot of play. It doesn't seem like there's any excessive backlash between the pinion and ring gear but the spider...

Smile Re: Truck not coasting well!

Yeah I'm not getting any of that, the wheels are actually cool to the touch, the tires are inflated properly, yeah I thought maybe because this truck weighs a little less but it seems like a big...

Re: Truck not coasting well!

Forgot to mention that I did jack it up and spin the wheels months ago and didn't notice anything unusual. On the brake calipers, if they were sticking wouldn't the wheels warm up after highway trips?

Truck not coasting well!

Well I sold my 94 4.0 2wd about a year ago and bought a 97 2.3 2wd 5 Speed this July. It was a long 9 months without a ranger lol. So far I like the truck, but I have noticed that it doesn't coast...

Re: 90's Ranger MPG Ratings

While that's true, the mileage drop that I'm seeing happened in 97 so it didn't correlate with the redesign in 98.

Re: 90's Ranger MPG Ratings

Actually I just had a thought, I know a lot of cars were made to use flex fuel in the late 90s which included lower compression ratios, could that be the case as to why the mpg ratings went down in...

Re: 90's Ranger MPG Ratings

Yeah I thought it might have something to do with that but I wasn't aware of any kind of ratings revision in 1997. I just thought maybe there was another factor. The compression ratio on that engine...

Re: 90's Ranger MPG Ratings

Yeah I thought that's probably the reason, I just thought I'd see if anyone knew if it were because of a maybe a different rear end ratio or something like that.

90's Ranger MPG Ratings

Hi everyone i actually sold my Ranger in September and now I'm looking for another one. I'm having ranger withdrawals. Anyways I was looking at the 90's 4x4 Rangers with the 3.0 and stick shifts and...

Re: Crazy Rattling with clutch in

OK cool, so my next question is, can you replace just the throwout bearing by itself or do you have to replace the slave cylinder with it? Are they both one assembly or are they separate. Thanks!

Re: Crazy Rattling with clutch in

Any ideas? After more research I'm thinking maybe a throwout bearing?

Crazy Rattling with clutch in

Hi guys, I have a 1987 Ranger with the 2.9 and when I went to start it yesterday it made this terrible rattling/clattering sound until I let off the clutch. Trying to drive it was the same story,...

Re: Difference in mpg between 95 and 96 4 cyl rangers

Yeah that could be it too, in the case I girds it wouldn't matter which year you bought. I was hoping someone would know for sure, I'd like to get a 96 or newer and use a scan gauge but the rating...

Re: Difference in mpg between 95 and 96 4 cyl rangers

Yeah that's the only difference I could think of but I don't know why that would reduce mpgs? 2 highway seems like a huge change.
