Re: 98 3.0 with p0306 code cylinder 6 missfire

No scanner will help. They don't tell you that the cam sync is installed 180 out on the camshaft. Scan tools assume everything is installed & connected properly.
Someone installed your cam sync with...

Re: 2000 3.0 FFV 2WD White Smoke and Rough Idle

For this discussion to proceed, we must assume your homebrewed fuel is equivalent to E85 and your Flex Fuel sensor is working properly.

Anyway, P0171 indicates Cyls 1,2,3 are running lean. P0174...

Re: 98 3.0 with p0306 code cylinder 6 missfire

Sometimes when a code is triggered, It logs some of the other params as freeze frame data. This can usually be seen on the scan tool. If you seem to be at a standstill, it would be worth giving us...

Re: 1999 ranger 2.5 power

my 03 ranger has 5 cats. 2 on the left bank, one on the right bank, another 2 after they collect into single exhaust.

Different states may have different setups, but do you think you replaced...

Re: 98 3.0 with p0306 code cylinder 6 missfire

The way the computer determines which cylinder has a misfire is by a combination of the cam sync sensor and the crank sensor.

The crank sensor is the more important sensor for this logic but the...

Re: Loss of power....fuel pump?

58 is ok. The book says 65 +-5 for my '03. Was that steady at 2500 rpms for a minute or so?

Have you considered a clogged catalytic converter for the power loss? you can simply unbolt the exhaust...

Re: Miss at certain RPM

Have you tried cleaning the MAF? It may be under reporting airflow at low flow conditions.

I wouldn't guess TPS. TPS factors in more during acceleration more that steady state so a prob with TPS...

Re: Geez....gotta coolant leak

According to the manual, that bolt where the leak appears to be centered on taps right into the block's water jacket (it's not a blind tapped hole like on the other side). It's the upper of the 3...

Re: p1071 and p1074

To properly test the fuel pressure, you should use a gage. It should read 60 t0 65 psi and when you turn the key off, it should not drop more than 5 psi after 1 minute.

Re: p1071 and p1074

clogged cats (especially ones so clogged that codes are triggered) will be accompanied with a healthy performance loss. Are you experiencing that?

When the cats start to clog, the engine consumes...

Re: 48 hours...

P0171 & P0174 means whole engine running lean.
P1131 & P1151 means both O2 sensors are not responding (switching) from a lean condition.
P0102 means MAF signal low (dirty or ref voltage issues)...

Re: misfire on number 4 P304

It might be a good idea to do a leak down check. The "oil in the cylinder" test will indicate ring wear. A leak down check will identify if compression loss is due to rings, intake valve, or exhaust...

Re: Fuel pump?

Based on your signature, you have a flex fuel vehicle.

it is probably your flex fuel alcohol sensor. It tells the computer whether the fuel passing through it is unleaded or E85 and the computer...

I just thought of another idea that I would definitely pursue before pulling the trigger on buying an O2 sensor.

Basically, those codes are triggered because the PCM was testing the O2 sensors by...

Re: need help please

Well, if you replace just the O2 sensor on the Passenger side and the P1131 remains, then you know it was not an O2 sensor problem. In other words, troubleshoot it for half price.

It's really rare...

Re: p1071 and p1074

Doesn't sound like a clogged cat to me, the maf will sense and compensate somewhat for that and if it's beyond the limits of the pcm to compensate, you'd hardly make freeway speed... you prolly would...

Re: Remanufactured 3.0 engine swap thread

No need to sweat the 38 degrees too much. As long as you have the crank set at TDC #1 compression stroke, and you have the PROPER tool installed on top of the sync, it will either mesh at a perfect...

Re: Going to take on timing cover coolant leak, have questions.

It's worth a try.

----------

But only if it's coming out the bolt head. If it's coming out the flange in that area then you would still need to replace the gasket.

Re: Going to take on timing cover coolant leak, have questions.

Don't forget there are 3 bolts that screw right into the block's water jacket.
The manual says to apply "pipe sealant with Teflon(R)" to the threads of the following bolts:

Re: P0171 issue - 2003 edge w/3.0L auto

Yeah, my current thinking (just speculative) is that the pcm relies heavily on the MAF to determine a starting point for fuel metering. I think it also assumes all cylinders are flowing approximately...
