Re: Leveling the front end

Just to make sure, you're saying to get 2-4" longer shocks up front for a 1.5-2" level right?

edit: actually I see a 2-3" version on their site, I'm assuming that's correct. An 8120 and 9120..

Re: Auto trans stronger than manual...

Sure but it's relatively easy to change needs to only be done 1 or 2 times in the life of the truck under normal conditions.

Re: ball joint or u joint problem???

Ok I've been having the same clunk (on takeoff it's most noticeable unless you feather the clutch out extremely slow) and was checking my u-joint for play. It does have a bit of play that i can see...

Re: random info i want

Same here. We all know that the torque rating of an axle would be "slightly important". I asked because I was confused what was meant by lb/ft, not that I didn't know the torque rating was...

Re: random info i want

I think you mean lb*ft, that's why I asked when I saw lb/ft....slightly important to me lol

P.S. not sure why everyone says lol after things that weren't intended to be jokes or funny...

Re: random info i want

lb/ft for the axle? Guess I haven't really heard of that as a common metric for axles (then again I don't really deal much with them anyways). On the other two, I agree machine is probably pretty...

Re: quick ways to add horsepower to my 2.3

Electric fan if you already haven't, or maybe gears if you have a reg cab, since I think reg cabs came with 3.73's and ext cabs came with 4.10's. Lima 2.3's can also take a turbo from a t-bird if...

Re: Poor gas mileage, Help!!!

22 is pretty decent for winter I'm thinking. Now I have the older Lima 2.3, but I get right about 20 mpg in the winter and 24 or so during the summer. I'm guessing you'd be 25-26 in the summer with...

Re: So who would win the drag race?

Depends, the new base V8 in the 2011's is the 5.0 at 360 hp and 380 lb-ft or something in that range. Pretty sure it would take a 4.0 Ranger even with 4.10's.

Re: 2.3/2.5 rpm....?

I'm at about 2900 rpm at 65 mph on my 97 2.3, with factory 4.10's and 225 70R14 tires (about 26.4 inch diameter for comparisons sake).

Re: What doesn't your Ranger have that you wish it did?

You can have mine, I'm assuming yours isn't a 4 cylinder (or Lima for that matter) in which case its useless on any kind of hills.

Re: ok to coast in Neutral on long downhill highways...

Even if you were actually saving some gas (it was already stated that the engine uses 0 gas below a certain rpm in gear), you do realize that you're going to be working the brakes harder without any...

Re: ok to coast in Neutral on long downhill highways...

I would think it would be kinda hard on your clutch to get it back in gear depending on how often you did it. But otherwise it probably wouldn't make a big difference. I'm a fan of engine braking...

Re: Auto trans stronger than manual...

Interesting, I really haven't heard of gears just breaking like that (except maybe fluid issues like others have said, but I'm not saying that was necessarily your problem either). How was the truck...

Re: Auto trans stronger than manual...

In general, I've seen way to many auto trans fail at higher mileage compared to sticks, with it being harder to repair the auto as opposed to replacing the whole trans. Maybe the Ranger trans' are...

Re: "Clunk" noise under normal acceleration

Want to level my 97 2wd, what say you about this?

Hi all, as says in the title I want to level my 97 Mazda 2wd (2" or so) and have been looking around. My top 2 choices so far are:

A.) This spacer / leaf kit on Ebay (I only care about the front...

I've got no problems with this statement.

I've got a problem with this statement. You keep stating that as if its an absolute truth, when it just plain isn't. To somebody who's used to a...

Yes it does. In fact you just contradicted it again in your 2nd sentence right there. A full size truck is a big truck compared to smaller trucks and especially in certain situations. Everything...

Re: ranger vs f150

duh. And I'm speaking relative to other trucks I've driven. That was my point exactly, which contradicts you're first point (see below).

Nice try though.
