I have a 1984 ranger 2.0 gas. I notice today a small spot under the truck. After looking under it appears to be coolant. It seems to be dripping from behind the timing belt cover to the front of the...

Re: engine smoke
I just checked coolant looks good. I did have to add half a quart of oil last week. I have drove about 1500 miles since last oil change. So it seems to be burning oil somewhere.
If oil is leaking...

Re: engine smoke
I don't smell gas when running. I will add the truck does seem to use a little oil. It's not leaving from the engine, so is burning it from some where.

Re: engine smoke
Thanks for the reply. Yes the smoke is white. I haven't notice any coolant loss.
If it is leaking valve seals, do I need to address the issue immediately?

1984 4 cyl 2.0 smoking bad when engine is cold. Like a mosquito fog truck... It doesn't seem to matter what the temperatures are outside. I also notice black condensation on the ground from the trail...

Re: 1984 idle ad gas mileage issues
I seem to have the ranger running alot better. It is now getting around 18 mpg. Can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable expectation. I do drive it hard,70 miles per hour all highway. Thanks for...

What is a reasonable mpg I can expect from a 2.0 Manuel. It has had the 1 barrel carb replaced with a 2 barrel carb.

Re: 1984 idle ad gas mileage issues
Here is where I am at with my ranger. I replaced, plugs, wires, distributer cap, rotor button, and air filter. After that the truck still only got 13 miles to the gallon.
I started looking for...

Re: sticking gas pedal
I am a rookie when it comes to working on cars. Is that a easy fix?

I have a 84 2.0 Manuel ranger. I bought this truck about three weeks ago so I don't have alot of knowledge of what type of maintenance it has had in the past. The truck for about 15 miles to the...

Thanks state ranger. I am going to start with a complete tuneup and go from there.

Re: 1984 idle ad gas mileage issues
I will give that a try. Thanks. I am also planning to do a tune up on pay day. I hope that solves the issue. I really can't afford it to be a carberator issue.

Re: 1984 idle ad gas mileage issues
Power seems ok. There is some hesitation while driving.... it's not bucking, I can just feel some sluggishness while driving. I only notice it while at driving speeds not when accelerating.

You think it would be best to start with plugs and wires?

1984 idle ad gas mileage issues
I just bought a 1984 2.0 standard ranger. It doesn't like to idle at stops. The truck will idle for a few seconds and then start trying to die. It is also getting terrible gas mileage. 3/4 tank and...
