Do you have an area of the engine bay that you think it's coming from? I believe 98 and up have a faulty plastic intake manifold that will tick.

Gotcha. It didn't really make the scratch disappear, it just filled the scratch in, it just came out smooth,as opposed to the results of a cheap "repair pen".
I'm aware that scratch removal isn't so...

In my experience, the slave cylinder was on its way out. Try taking the rubber boot on your transmission off, and have somebody depress the clutch. Mine was making a terrible squeaking sound.
