I guess that I'm not quite clear on how you are attaching the LED strip to the light lens.

I see how you've cut out most of the light housing in order to provide clearance for the LED...

Also check on Zoning Ordinances. Quite often they will have "setbacks" that have to be followed - the fence/structure/whatever can be no closer than a certain distance from the property line,...
