That's what I believe too is its not a interference engine. I think the book recommended "inspection" at 120k. That came out of the book that was in my 97. So I would say probably around 160k-170k...

Ya it was the intake tubing that was disconnected and it was acting up like you wouldn't believe. It would not run right at all. I think it has a air flow sensor somewhere and it wasnt reporting...

Lol you guys would laugh at my truck. No just kidding. Its still in project mode plus last weekend someone broke into it and stole the radio and damaged the passenger side door lock so I gotta fix...

I just hit 160k with my 97 2.3 5 speed. Runs great, I think it might need a cat converter pretty soon though. But aside from that its great. Not a single problem otherwise.

Mines a stepside and I really enjoy it. I don't have any issues fitting anything in the bed. I like the look better than the regular bed. That's just my opinion though.

Exactly why I won't put a turbo on the stock engine. If I wanted real power I'd just drop in a 5.0 but Im good with it the way it is.

Hmm wonder how hard it would be to put a turbo on the stock 97 engine? Changing the engine isnt something I would want to do as its a good running truck.
