Any dtc's? if you do not have any diagnostic trouble codes I would start out by changing out the battery cables ( the whole cable not just the posts) and cleaning out the idle air control valve....

2001 4x4 ranger 3.0 both flex fuel and not is 15ft pds. check for leaks after you install it. I like using dielectric grease to keep moisture out at connector.

Your best bet is to talk to a throttle body spacer vendor they can best inform you on their "supposed" benefit. Maybe autozone has em but them guys are usually not very informed and will tell you...
