In 563.000 plus miles , I have only replaced the clutch one time .
So it has had the factory valeo clutch, and a replacement , also another valeo .

My 4.0 ,4x4gets 17.4 mpg. Nothing more , nothing less.
Check compression, leakdown, and ignition timing.

You will be 1200 in a set of cams.
You can tweek it with an sct , and a set of gears .

If the fluid was red, run it, if there is water in the trans. It will turn pink in short order.
You will know by looking at the dipstick , if there is water in the trans.

In 40 years, I have never seen a fuel filter cog.
Some of the rides I own have still had the factory filter, with well over 200k miles .
That said , fuel pumps fail ,and I would check fuel pressure...

After replacing the parts, disconnect the battery to clearance codes if you don't have a code scanner that enables you to manually clear them .

If you have an OHM meter , check the coil as per the manual( helps or Chilton ) .
I have a 94 with the same engine , and I know the meaning of negative cash flow.

Un plug the maf sensor , and see if it runs any better.
