Re: New wheel bearing, New Noise

For posterity, since I searched and found nothing, it was the hub. It was unlocked and it was making terrible noises, took it off and locked it and it was fine.

Time for manual hubs!

New wheel bearing, New Noise

So I replaced my drivers side wheel bearing with a Timken unit, (i replaced the PS about six months ago) because it was super loose and roaring at speed. However now i've got a new noise that sounds...

Re: Are Rangers Just Noisy?

It sounds like it's coming from the engine yes, however i think i've not been clear, the "Thud" or "wub" is kind of the same noise, I thought it might be piston slap, but it's not harsh enough and...

Re: Are Rangers Just Noisy?

So if the intermittent screech is the Cam Synchro, is that "wub wub wub" noise under accel normal for a 3.0?

Re: Are Rangers Just Noisy?

Okay, so is the Ford unit really worth 4x the cost of the ones on Rock auto or even the one at Advanced?

Re: Are Rangers Just Noisy?

Well for the time being the noise went away, however it seemed like it was coming from the front of the engine however i hadn't considered listening to the rear so that's a possibility, i will...

Re: Are Rangers Just Noisy?

It's not when it comes to stop, it's more like an exhaust leak but much lower and only under accel. What's this about a cam sensor? The screech is light and only intermitant

Are Rangers Just Noisy?

So I have a 1999 Mazda B3000, and since i've got it, it's always made a kinda of thud thud thud from the engine while accelerating. I came from driving a Subaru, so i realize these trucks aren't as...

Re: How does this flywheel look?

The rear main looked pretty clean when i looked at it, it also appears to be the teflon variety, so I'm guessing it was recently replaced. The pilot bearing was filled to the brim with dirty grease...

Re: How does this flywheel look?

I have a new one, just wondering if it needed it. This one looks like it has a hot spot or two. Do i need to readjust the clutch or anything or is it just a clean swap? I have new pilot bushing as...

How does this flywheel look?

Is it worth changing? The clutch itself looks brand new, only a 1/16 difference in thickness from a new auto-parts one. Also is it worth taking the flywheel off and changing the rear main while i'm...

Re: Transmission removal

Yeah i used a small hack saw to cut the line, so now that the trans is out i'll see what it takes to get the old one off.

Front driveshaft from T-case?

Trying to separate the front driveshaft from the t-case, however it seems stuck as a son of a gun. I've been soaking it in penetrant, as well as rotating and hammering away from the t-case but it...

Re: Transmission removal

Just to clarify, if i do have to cut the line, since i'm on a schedule and can only mess with it for so long, is the one i posted above the correct replacement?

Re: Transmission removal

Yeah that's not a bad idea, i'll try that, since yeah i'd rather not cut it, but the PO chewed the bushing up something fierce and there's not getting it out. But yeah, i'll try a few more times...

Re: Transmission removal

I'm sure it's not the line, it's pouring from the inspection and drainage holes in the trans. Even if i snip the slave line, how would i get the line out of the quick disconnect?

Re: Transmission removal

Yeah sorry, I'm replacing the slave, it's pouring fluid everytime the clutch is pressed. I realize it's a last options to cut it, but I've pried on it for easily two hours now and watched every...

So i have just about everything out, only the bolts on the cross-member and the ones holding the bell housing on are left, however I can't get the hydraulic line off, i've tried screwdrivers and the...
