I know from numerous runs to the dump that my ranger is not happy with more than 1200 pounds in the bed. Have no problems towing compressors, 8" chippers, small boats, etc. Don't see a rreason to...

Yes, the clutch is a weak link. But the brakes are a limiting factor also. If your truck can't stop with the load, its not safe.
