Re: Serious Transmission Probs, Help W/Diagnosis

The fluid level is good, but I believe it needs to be changed pretty badly. I am about 80% sure that it is stuck in first gear. Any ideas on how to get it unstuck?

Re: Disable EGR Valve?

It was a vacuum operated valve on the snorkel part of the air intake (the part before the air box). It was connected to a hose coming from the exhaust. At least I assume that's what it was, I can't...

Serious Transmission Probs, Help W/Diagnosis

Today my transmission really crapped the bed. Neutral shifter position is now first gear. The clutch will disengage the transmission in this gear. No other gears work, they won't get any power...

K thanks I went and looked for it and couldn't find it so now I know why. For curiosity's sake, has anyone done this and what were the results?

Transmission Fluid Change?

My '88 was shifting a little rough, thought maybe the trans was a little low on fluid. I checked it and it has plenty but it looks terrible. Rusty brown color with all kinds of crap floating...

Disable EGR Valve?

Been doing some reading, and one guy said that disabling the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve will give a bit of a power/mpg increase. Anyone done this on an '88 with a 2.9?

Re: 2.9 engine issues electrical/fuel??

+1 on the electrical, my truck has done this same exact thing twice and both times it was wiring problems with the fuel system. I found this out after trying EVERYTHING else in the fuel system.

Front U-Joints in 1988 4wd

The front U-joints in my 1988 4wd (the ones nearest the tires) are totally shot. I'll be replacing them this weekend. What all do I have to do to replace these? I've done ones on rear drivelines...

Re: Found these...What ya think€?

You will have to machine out the center holes on those wheels I believe. I'm going through that now and it ain't bad if you work at a machine shop like I do but can be pricy if not.

Wheel Spacers to make Jeep Alloys fit an '88?

I bought five 15" Jeep alloys off a 1997 Wrangler with 30x9.5R15 BFG mudders on them. They fit on the back just fine, but I've machined out the center hole on the fronts for the hub and run into...

If it helps any this morning it wouldn't come on. I slammed the vent lever back and forth a few times and got the blower to come on. This works sometimes.

My '88 does the same thing. Pisses me off... takes ten minutes just to get it up to 1/2 tank. It isn't venting so you have to sit and wait for the gas to go in as the air is trying to come up out...
