Re: 4 cylinder automatic power

Yes, I've never seen 25 MPG at any time, even on road trips. I don't check it all the time, but occasionally.

As a side note, my wifes PT crusier and the Ranger are rated for the same highway...

Re: Very Pleased with long road trip!

Wow, you drive over 40 thousand miles a year! My 2000 only has about 90,000 miles on it. I guess I also have an F150 and a couple motorcycles to absorb some of the yearly miles.

Re: Very Pleased with long road trip!

I took my 2000 Ranger with 75K or so miles on a 2000 mile trip last summer and it broke down 2 times requiring a 100 mile tow (alternator) and a 65 mile tow (fuel pump), besides springing a rear...

Re: 4 cylinder automatic power

My 2000 2WD 2.5 short box reg cab with and auto will go off the line fairly well, but passing at highway speeds is lethargic at best. I've never seen better than 24 or so MPG, but I guess that isn't...

Re: 1999 Ranger 2.5l auto shifting hard 1st-2nd

That's great! Sounds like the problem was the same as mine, and I bet you didn't pay $500.

Re: Minnesota II

Sounds cheap to me, but I have 4 vehicles and 3 motorcycles licensed and don't know how to break it down to compare.

I've found a person needs to check and usually switch insurance people every...

Re: Minnesota II

It's a 4X2 sport 4cyl auto. It had 68,000 on it when I bought it. Body is kinda rusty, but still sound. It was a "city" truck from Litchfield so who knows how it was treated. I'm guessing probably...

Re: Minnesota II

My wife says most everything must be new by now. From your list it sounds like I may have much more to come.

Considering I bought it with one easy payment of $1,600 a couple years ago I suppose...

Re: Minnesota II

Replaced the alternator myself. It's not easy to drop the tank to replace the fuel pump, or the driveshaft to replace the tranny seal in a parking lot 800 miles from home, so I had to pay a couple...

Re: Minnesota II

Just got back from week trip to Wyoming. The alternator went out 100 miles from Rapid City so I got towed and had to sleep at a truck stop due to full motels until O'Reilly's auto opened on Sunday...

Re: Minnesota II

Hey Glenn! Went fishing with my wife on lake Villard on Saturday. Fishing was slow but the weather was great! Sounds like you're a busy man lately.

Taking my Ranger to Wyoming camping and trout...

Re: Had Any Compliments On Your Ranger?

Thanks! My son is 21 and the plant he works in shuts down for maintinence over the 4th, and he said it would be great if we could do something together over that time. Fishing in the mountains came...

Re: Had Any Compliments On Your Ranger?

Nope, but thanks for asking! Has happened on some motorcycles I've owned.

It's kinda cool if that happens, but at the stage of life that I'm at other people's validation of my choices are not...

Re: What area has the most Rangers?

Seems I see them everywhere everytime I leave the house. Mostly stock. Makes me wonder why Ford quit making them.

Re: 1999 Ranger 2.5l auto shifting hard 1st-2nd

My 2000 2.5 auto was reving high before shifting out of first gear and sometimes shifting hard. I took it to a tranny place and they said the "gasket was blown" in the transmission and it was...

Re: Good 'cars' they don't make anymore

I'll second that! There used to be more 2 door vehicles back in the day, including SUV's and wagons. I guess 2 door trucks are even getting kind of rare these days.

Re: Good 'cars' they don't make anymore

My virus protector says that link is unsafe.

I miss the Bronco 11. I owned a 1984 for 10 years and loved it.

Re: Ranger Anglers??

Sure, I'm a fisherman and use my Ranger. The portable fish house is in the back right now! When I went out last weekend the ice auger barely made it through without an extension, around 3 feet thick....

Re: 4 cyl. vs. 6 cyl.

I had a 3.0 in an Escape and it had good towing power and went like scat. Somebody here told me it isn't the same engine as the 3.0 in the Ranger.

My 2.5 in my 2wd reg cab has enough power to get...

Re: Minnesota

I had a 1995 GranDamn GT a few years back. It had a habit of randomly killing at the exact wrong time. Probably the legendary GM electronics. Ditched it.

Hope yours lasts a long time. :)

Re: You Know You Drive a Ranger When.....

Oh yes. They auctioned it off and I got it. Kinda rusty but low miles.
