Wash the torque converter in some gas to remove most of the old fluid. How much of a mechanic are you?

I would talk to a tranny shop about this. I would take it to a tranny shop and have them do a filter and fluid change and a safety inspection.

Well first question. Have you check to be sure the in not a connection issue were the sensor plugs in.
