Re: Cold weather behavior: battery, signals, dome light
Thanks to everyone for your replies! I've since purchased a new battery and all is fine. The new one has a substantially higher rating for cca. I have had no problems afterward. However, it's been...

Cold weather behavior: battery, signals, dome light
I've been having an issue with cold starts. When it gets down to about 5 F (as it does here in Iowa) the battery can become too weak to start the truck. A jump is then required to get it going. This...

Yeah, it's a one-way, 1700 miles, different animal than a daily rental. But our plan in Iowa will be to borrow or rent a trailer to buy and move furniture short distances, rather than haul the shitty...

Thanks for the help & sage advice. I'm convinced that towing so far will be a generally bad idea. I think we've made a decision not to tow, nor rent a truck. We're going to fill the bed with bare...

Yeah, just over 100hp, the big hills in western Mass. are gonna suck. Some on the NY Thruway too. After that, it mostly flattens out. I figure 16 of the 17 hundred miles are mostly cruising, lighter...

An even crazier towing question
I may be nuts. But I thought I could get one of U-Haul's smaller enclosed cargo trailers (5 x 8, 900 lbs empty, no brakes), add maybe 700 lbs of our shit to it, hitch it to my '97 2.3L-4 Ranger XLT...

Weight estimate
In the bed I'm figuring about 5 boxes, a couple of tables (disassembled, bulky but not heavy), some other light flatter items, plus our luggage. The trailer will have 750 lbs. Household items like...

I have the specs up now. It is a 4. The book says it can tow 2300 lbs. My weight estimate for the move is U-Haul (5x8, 900 lb) + load in U-Haul (750 lb) + load in bed (250 lb) comes in at 1900 lbs....

Thanks, very helpful. Funny how Sam's themselves recommended a "P" tire for the truck. I checked tirerack and there were few choices in my stock size, no winter tires. The best thing may be the...

Snow tire sizing
Forgive me if I'm a bit of a beginner, hopefully I learn fast. Anyway, I need to put new tires on the '97 Ranger I just acquired. Since I'm about to use it for a 1700-mile move through snow country,...

42K !! It's very clean, nice floor mats, came with the bed cover. Just $1500. The tires and battery are original, so I'm getting new right away....
