You can't put a spacer or spring that big in without the proper drop brackets and still be able to align it properly. I think the max is only 2 inches but I think that is pushing it.

Yeah you definitely need a bigger drop on your pitman arm. Bds might have sent you the wrong one in the kit. Skyjacker I think makes an extreme drop arm or something like that that is for the 6in kit.

I would go 8.8 then worry about a locker. If you look around at the junkyards and look at the tags on the diff you could find a 8.8 limited slip that will be almost as good as a locker and stronger...

If he was gonna swap axle I figured he would swap gears also. I would say if he regeared to 5.13 or lower he would be fine with his current motor unless it is a 4 cylinder.

The "best" axle to use is all up to your skill set and what you use the truck for. My advice is to look at build threads on other sites that use different axles and set ups then decide witch is best...
